not neccessarily. it depends if your cable company decides to encrypt the signal. currently most don't.

HDCP is for the next gen players. They will output an encoded stream so your display device wil need a chip or system that will be able to decode the protection or it will be displayed at a lower resolution from the original source.

I have an 256 meg All-In-Wonder x800 XT AGP card. Is my card enough to power this beast sufficiently and still enjoy gaming, or should I go for the Gateway instead?

I received this monitor on Friday, and wow. Went from a 17 inch LCD to this, and just WOW.

Also, I'm running World of Warcraft at 1920x1200 res, with 2xAA and 1/2 AF on the slider (whatever that equates to) and my Geforce 6800 does it with no slowdown or stuttering! The game doesn't seem to be too video card dependant, because I was worrying that I wouldn't be able to use the native resolution.

It's just amazing going from a 17 inch screen to this.
