I also got an XPS 600 for $785. It came with an Nvidia 6800 and a wireless keyboard/mouse. How much would this normaly be?

Also to Zorro, your best bet value wise is an X800 for around $150.

Nice threadcrap. Try reading the rules. If a topic doesn't interest you. Just move on.:disgust:

I wasn't threadcrapping :| I was just asking, because I plan on driving to the nearest Bestbuy (60 mi away) on BF and if I can get one better here, then I won't. This topic does interest me, I should have asked the question differently, though

Edit: oh, and I'm asking because the only thing I know about intel chips is that Pentium 4 > Pentium 3.

Esquared probably thought there was sarcasm in that post or something.

I realized it sounded like I was putting down the deal in favor of the BF BestBuy deal
 for esquared for keeping threadcrappers out though!

Yeah,it did seem sarcastic to me, so I thought it was a threadcrap. My apologies.
I've become a little jaded over the years here. When I post a Maxtor hard drive deal, I usually post for Maxtor-haters to just move on if they don't like Maxtors, and not to threadcrap. It seems to work.

Any idea on the percent of systems they sell through the Outlet that are really "new" systems? I really want a cheap X1 laptop, but don't know about the refurb deal.

Kinda depends on the model. Newer models like that laptop you're looking at are, I'd say 90% of the time physically new.

xps 600

i know the video card stinks, i am gonna ugrade it to the 7800

Hot with that cpu. The mobo is also an NF4 SLI capable board.

Yeah but that CPU get's it's clocked cleaned by somthing as low as a A64 3500+ in newer games. I hate when people do these things it seems so rude, but if you're going to use this for games I have to mention this.
http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20051121/the_mother_of_all_cpu_charts-26.html

www.newegg.com
95.00 XP Home
205.00 A64 3500+
115.00 ABIT KN8 SLI (not some el-cheapo board)
114.00 CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) cas 2
104.00 Segate 250GB Drive
100.00 Antec Sonota (Sweet quiet Case)
40.00 DVD BURNER Dual-Layer no less not just el-chepo reader
30.00 Keyboard + Mouse
50.00 Audigy 2 Sound Card
______
853.00 And I rounded up

The biggest difference is in the warrentee for the parts themselves. All parts come with at least a 1 year, but some important ones come with more with more
Processor - 3
Hard-Drive - 5
Memory - Lifetime

All of these are well past the typical Dell 1 year. Shipping and handling is cheap... compared to dell, and very few states are charged sales tax, to boot. The processor overclocks like a dream, not even an option on the Dell. Once overclocked it will achieve scores that the P4 couldn't even dream of hitting. If you live home with Ma, and Pa, this might not be a big deal, but it also saves a good deal of money on the power bill. It also runs a ton cooler if you want to save on A/C costs... trust me a fast P4 will heat up a 10x10 room in a hurry... hell so will a A64, just not as much.

All that being said, for that particular P4, it's a great deal, but you can get a better gaming system for for less. Though you do have to assemble it and install the OS yourself.

If you're a tweaker, don't even get the A64 3500, just get the 3000, lower the HT multiplier to 4, and the memory ratio to 5:6, and set the FSB to 250, and run it at 2250MHz, and get a 3500+ on the cheap.

just my 2 cents

They keep coming back. Last night I bought an xps 400 pentium D 2.8 with 1GB ram, 250GB HDD, radeon x600, dual layer DVD burner for less than $500 after tax (using the 20% coupon). Though I may return this one because I'd rather build an Opteron system.

The best deals usually appear at night and then the prices jump back up in the morning (that or there's more people checking during the day and the good systems disappear faster).
