Damn I love the x50v and this is a great deal, but I wish Dell would make an Axim smartphone...with the prices of the recent and upcoming Windows Mobile phones up in the stratosphere, Dell could really put the hurt on HP, Samsung, and Motorola! Not to mention the ridiculously expensive iMate/XDA/MDA/whatevertheyrecalled phones.

Just get a bluetooth phone with internet service from the phone's provider. I use Sprint's Vision along with bluetooth. Once you have that there's really no difference between the phone and the PDA.

The only reason I got an X50v is for OnCourse Navigator 5 (which is coming out in a few days). I am a huge fan of GPS navigation. This past weekend, my GF and I went up to Seattle for her birthday, and I was using my Axim X30 with a Socket Bluetooth GPS and Mapopolis Demo. Mapopolis is a great piece of no-frills software, but OCN5 has newer maps, more POIs, VGA support, more map views, etc.

Anyways, using GPS in Seattle was a blast. Although I'm sure you can plan out your entire day and get directions in advance through Google Maps, I liked the freedom of being spontaneous and having the GPS route us to various locations in the city on-the-spot. Mapopolis even did a fine job when we were on foot (without a GPS), giving us good walking directions to several POIs. We ate most of our meals that weekend at The Bite, and walked around to Pike Street, Post Alley, and the piers. Saw the Experience Music Project too, and it was interesting (although I admit I'm more of a science/industry museum type guy).
