They aren't in the business of chopping parts so much anymore. If it has the option for a video card the mobo should still have the PCI-E slot when shipped. I know the Vostros I got all had them and we got integrated graphics.

thanks.... I so don't need this, but my, it seems like a deal...

That's the situation I'm in. I just got an HP quad-core in December.

if you can't get the 10% coupon, set up a free email account here. total system costs including shipping and 4% dpa is around 660, sell the lcd for 360+ on fleabay. and ya got a quad core system for 3 bills. upgrade ram and video and your all set. might have to replace ps-standard atx for a 8800gt.

this should be the mobo you get, 2 pci, 1 pcix, 1 pci16, 300w ps. ram included is 1.8v, not sure if getting 1.9 or 2.2 wont make it boot. no options in bios for this.

people on slickdeals confirmed adding an 8800GT to the stock PS without problems.

Also, apparently the machine only recognized 3GB of ram??

Good

Any idea if that is an 8-bit LCD or not? I see a 5ms response time, so I am thinking 6-bit?

coupon code for $300 off is 55CCDLXT1?JBTX by the way. If someone wants to sell me the machine itself, I'll take one, preferably with vista home premium. PM me offers.

You just have to watch the price change. It didn't show up in the break out for me.

The perils of a 32bit operating system. 64bit XP or Vista will see 4+.

I would make sweet, sweet love to this deal if I had the cash to spare.

ahhh

you have to select "Pay by credit card" rather than pay by DPA

When you select pay by credit card, THEN they offer you 4% discount to use DPA

it doesn't show up in the break out.. Just make sure you get to the discount offer, or else you dont get it

yea, the fact that they are selling this computer with a 24" lcd for just over $600 is almost stupid! it must be a marketing "loss leader" in hopes that you buy upgrades (like $500 for an extra gig of ram)

Thanks OP. That is one heck of a deal, though I'm more interested in the computer itself than the monitor. Having said that, is there anyone still planning to get the deal for the monitor and sell the computer? If so PM me with an offer. Thanks.

but dell isn't paying $300 per quad core cpu, prob around $100. they buy everything in mass quantities (conehead humor). there making money on these deals. there is over 70 pages of discussion on SD about this.

dell home is offering quadcore, vista, 20" lcd, dvdrw, 3gb ram, 500gig hd, ati 2400, 2-year warranty for $849.. crazy.

I'm doing the opposite. A friend of mine tasked me with finding a good deal on a pc for him. He didn't have the loot for the full deal, but i put in on my dell dpa charge card and hope to have the monitor sold before my first payment is due, and he is comping me for the rest. He's giving me $250 plus a fully functional older HP AMD Athlon 1700+ with 756MB of ram, 200GB hard drive and a dvd burner, just for the quad core PC, and I get the monitor. If I can get $300-$350 for the monitor, then I break even and hooked a buddy up with one hell of a pc that he couldnt otherwise afford. I'd keep the monitor but I already have dual 22's. He said he's twitching just thinking about the quad core. (he's been using a 1.4GHZ AMD athlon with 756MB of ddr 266) and he does video and music and 3dsmax.

Very nice of you to hook your friend up. I'm pretty much in the same boat as your friend, and I figure it'd probably be easier to buy the computer from someone than try to stretch it by buying the whole setup myself, then turn around and try to sell the monitor to recoup some dough. Well, I suppose it'll come down to how much I really want that setup

are you in a position to apply for dell financing? They'll approve almost anybody for $1500.
