Check out the direct link to the monitor above for more details.

From what I can tell, 1920x1200 resolution and HDCP, so yeah.

The perils of a 32bit operating system. 64bit XP or Vista will see 4+.

From sl1ckdeals:
The Bad: This system does not support more than 3.2 gb of RAM, regardless of the operating system (the motherboard is crippled )).

That sucks considering most modern desktop motherboards usually accept 8 GB.

I should get this with 4GB and Vista 64 bit and then do a class action lawsuit for lieing to me about what I get. Realiy unless it say 3.2 can only used by the hardware when order then system, they can get in real trouble.

Now are you sure that 3.2 is the limit on hardware or is that jsut what the OS sees?

Proof 1 Proof 2

Vista x64 and Ubuntu 7.10 x64 have been tried with 4gb+ and neither recognized more than 3.2 gb.

Bad move on Dell's part. It sounds like technically it should be possible and it MAY be possible in the future with a BIOS update, but I wouldn't want to take that bet with $700+ riding on it. Of course it's not a problem if you never want to move past 3 GB anyway, but as we all know, there is no such thing as "too much" hard drive space or memory...

Problems like this are why I went back to building my own desktops after 2 years with a Dimension 8400. Poor upgrade possibilities makes for disposable computers.

Can you pull the q6600 out and swap a cheap c2d in?

I want to buy this deal, keep the monitor, sell the q600 for $200, and buy a cheap c2d in and give the computer to my gf.

I figured it'd be $700 for this deal and a c2d, sell the q600 for $200... so it'd cost me about $500 to get a 24" monitor and a pretty decent computer for the gf

After much deliberation, I bit...my first desktop purchase in at least 10 years lol. Estimated ship date of 3/20, not bad (always had 1+ month wait times on their laptops). If anyone in the St. Louis area wants that desktop, lemme know, I haven't decided if I want to keep that or not, though I plan on putting the monitor to good use!

I'd get it if I didn't just replace my sweetie's old XPS R450 with a $223-shipped Dell SC440. Or if I had a job, heh.
I am stuck with 2500 Barton & 17" CRT for a bit longer, alas.

Pulled the trigger on this too. Going to swap out the the CPU for my old c2c (slow one I forget the model) and build this with server 2008 and make it a file server for home.
Going to sell the monitor too. I'm realy going to look into the Ram issue. Dell could be in hot water for this.

Bought one. CPU and monitor for my new build, everything else for a friend. A question: What is the best price-point CPU to slap in this thing? The E2160?

I'm sure some others here are going this route, as parts alone are worth $900+

In response to the question below, if you poke around this thread, you'll find several solutions to your problem. I signed up for an msn.com email account to get my coupon, apparently netzero.com and mail.com accounts will work too.

If you follow the link in the OP and scroll down a few posts there are some posted methods for getting that code instantly. The one marked working looks like it involves signing up for a free NetZero account so YMMV.

I gave in and ordered one even though I have no need for another desktop. Yay for more useless junk!

I have been sitting on the fence on this deal since it was posted, and once I saw that today that made me pull the trigger.
