I just bought one too.

I may be interested in selling the 24" monitor locally - Los Angeles area - PM if interested.

I want to buy this deal, keep the monitor, sell the q600 for $200, and buy a cheap c2d in and give the computer to my gf.

I figured it'd be $700 for this deal and a c2d, sell the q600 for $200... so it'd cost me about $500 to get a 24" monitor and a pretty decent computer for the gf

Who's gonna buy a used processor for 80% of retail?

Haha, ive already got 3 people messaging me to take it if i buy this. So at least 3 people...

IF i buy the system, $200. Its a good buy for people that can't "freely" drive to a microcenter to buy this in store.... since its.... in store only.

Not really a used processor now, is it? There are millions of us without a Microcenter nearby, and I'd buy the CPU if I didn't get in on this deal myself. He shouldn't have a difficult time finding a taker...

It's used in the only way that matters. It's been taken out of a computer handled by some guy on the internet. Who knows what he did with it? Static discharge? Dropped it on the floor? Bent a pin?

And yeah it's apparently $200 from Microcenter anyway, I assume online too

That's why HEAT and general trust play a part in the FS/T forum. If every member was in to screw the other that forum would have died a long time ago. Many of the Q6600's are selling in there for 235 and a little higher and have even been OCed some.

haha, if its a gift (as it will be), any complaints she has would be followed by a FS post on craigslist and cash in my pocket. She's running a celeron from the P4 days, i dont think any c2d i put in there would be "slow" in her opinion

Everybody's been making such a big fuss about this deal that I've been wondering if I'm missing something, because it doesn't seem that hot to me.

E248WFP monitor sells for $379 at Dell
Core2Quad q6600 sells for $200 at Microcenter
That's $580

So you're getting the rest of the system for about $40-50:

1 GB RAM
250 GB SATA HD
16x DVD
Keyboard, Mouse

I'm not trying to rain on the parade, here, I'm just seriously wondering why this is considered such a good deal that everybody's jumping on it?

Erm - plus Vista, plus 1 year support and warranty, plus it's assembled and fully tested (and it works) and shipped, plus you get other software bits.

Oh, and you can easily switch it to 3.0 ghz quad core too.

That's a good deal.

yeah, I forgot about Vista Basic. I guess that's something. Not much, but something.

Still, seems like a lot of work for what you're getting out of it.

I guess I'd be on it in a second if it somehow left me with a free processor or something really worthy. There are so many of them being sold on Craigslist right now that it's hard to believe that guys are doing well on them.

Well, I didn't need another computer at all, but after seeing the micro center ad tonight I decided to go ahead with this deal. When you really ad things up, you can see just how great of a deal it is.

Vista OEM = $100
Case = $50
Q6600 = $200
1GB Ram = $20
Motherboard = $65
Hard Drive = $75
DVD Burner = $25
Keyboard + Mouse = $25
24" Monitor Generic = $349

Total = $889, then you would have shipping + tax with another $50-75 on top of that. This deal is a total STEAL!

I just ordered mine last night.. Wooot... So has anyone upgraded the RAM to 4 Gb (with the BIOS update)?? I'd like to buy 2 X 2 GB DDR2 800 sticks before this comes in, just want to make sure that I purchase some that is compatable.

Anyone have any suggestions that already has one of these boxes???

Also... Will a 9600 GT fit in this box??? I assume the 350W PS will have to go, but I have a 750W I can throw in it.

Thanks in advance!!

I seem to be unsuccessful with trying to acquire an EPP coupon. I will probably just go and buy one off of eBay. Anyone having issues with it? I have submitted 2 e-mails from different accounts following the instructions stated on the page.

Hmmm, I submitted my order on the 17th and it hasn't been confirmed yet...just acknowledged. Does Dell usually take this long just to confirm your order?

Mine was confirmed, shipped, and attempted to be delivered within 3 days.

Unfortunately nobody at DHL has a brain in their head so I still don't have it in my hands.
