I got coupons just by going to there site and signing up on there email list. It took a few days to get the email, but if you do it now it might pay off for the next dell deal!

Ughh... tax kills the 20" planar. $750 for a monitor is just too much. Was tempted for a bit though.

Cheapest 20" on pricegrabber is $100 more, $850

So a good deal even with tax.

Go with the DVD/RW. No question. Thanks again for the coupon btw.

I forgot to even look at the projectors before, though kind of hard for me to call out a hot deal on a projector when i dont know much about them.

Any opinions on whether to go with the Lite-On or the TDK DVD burner? I heard the Lite-On is supposed to be effectively the same as the Sony DRU-500AX. The seek time on the TDK seems to be faster but it only has a 2MB buffer as opposed to 8MB on the Lite-On, and it has slower CD-R writing (16x as opposed to 24x). Then again, the Lite-On has a slower DVD read speed. I'm leaning towards the Lite-On because of the larger buffer and higher CD-R speed.

I have also heard that the lite on is basically a sony. Although the extra buffer is nice, are you really going to use the cd-r speeds? you can get a 52x lite on for $20 now a days, why not have both. I dont know the cheapest price for the liteon, but i doubt the 6 mbs of buffer are worth it, but its up to you.

Sorry, I meant CD-R write speed. But I see your point, the difference in the end is about $25 more for the Lite-On, and most of that is due to the MIR for the TDK. I'm not sure it's worth it either.

Yo,

Need some advice here please. Im looking at a 17" Planar LCD PL171M and its got a 350:1 cont ratio as well as 25ms response. Wondering what peoples opinions are on the LCD. I'm not looking for the best in the world, but I kinda would like a LCD that does not have serious issues and is good for the money. It will go for around 340 after coupons and such. Just wanna know what you think. thanks!

Aww man, I'm torn between the G3 and the F717... or if I should wait for the 8 megapixel CCDs (before Christmas) to come out and see what the price drops are then. Damn damn damn. I would really like to pick up photography over the summer, especially some outdoor shots.

Sony is going to release their 8mp before end of summer, supposedly. Have you checked out the v1 yet? or the G5?

Thanks for the heads up. Was able to pick up 2 Panasonic DV203, 2 Canon A300 and 2 external firewire CD-RW for $1440. Much better deal than 2 weeks ago at Dell Home!

The V1? I haven't heard of that but I assume it a Sony offering? I have read up on the Canon G5 but I don't think my budget would extend that far. I am a real novice at photography and have recently (past year) developed an interest in it. I have a Minolta Maxxum SLR at home that no one uses because of its bulk and complexity (you can point and shoot but results are not being seen on film). So rather than waste money on film and dev, I thought I might as well start tinkering with shots and settings on digital and then after I learn a bit, try on film. This approach might be completely wrong (makes sense to me but perhaps someone who knows more might confirm). Digital photography sure is expensive, even in the prosumer market. Well, I have another 9 hours or so to think about it...

The V1 is sony's new 5 MP camera, it basically combines all the features of the 717, in G3 size, thus making it one of the best 5 mp cameras out there.

pecel: I like scandisk better, but both are good, get the cheaper one

Get the Simpletech. Sandisk has been reported to have major problems (not just with Axim). I use Simpletech's 256MB and it works fine.

After taxes and stuff the DVD+R/RW drive is $181 - $40 MIR = $141, is it still worth it, or just wait for a better deal? If I didnt have the almost $20 in taxes it would be a no brainer. The combo drives (CDRW/DVD) probably wont drop much more before they go out of style, but the prices on these are dropping everyday.

Also, would I be able to backup my DVD movie collection, some are getting pretty scratchy after loaning them out or is this drive just for normal backup etc.

Would DVD players that are MP3 compatible read a DVD loaded with MP3s, or just regular CD-RW? It would be sweet to put a small one in my truck and run through stereo.

WOOHOO! I found another 15% off coupon.

CheapArse, I dont have $200, well I do but dont want to waste $200 on something that will be $100 or so in August, Im spending a lot just going for the $70 combo drive.

Also, does anyone know if these are just bare drives or do they come with NERO or whatever?
