Yep, deal died, I was waiting to see if my servers went through before purchasing this ... oh well, at least I got my 400SC's hopefully coming soon ... still waiting on order confirmation ...

Update: use the $200 off $1999+ Inspiron notebook, exp 9/8. Final price is only $799 - $200 coupon - $100 rebate = $499! yes right now it works on this laptop too although it's only $799! This will be corrected soon so better hurry!

no room for any bitching when Dell yanks that discount out from under your order

that's not much different than people that swap price tags and then get caught

I won't complain if they cancel, but I bet they don't.

They're either gonna just not bother worrying about, or they'll say, "well, we can charge 599 for this, its still a little more than what it costs, and it will help our Q3 revenue numbers..."

I called to upgrade the memory and the CSR told me that the whole coupon issue was under investigation. She said their marketing dept. was trying to figure it out, and that I would be contacted within 24 hours with news. Basically, she said they were trying to decide if they would honor the lappys that were processed with the coupon. So, the hammer may fall by this time tomorrow. She did say that they had not decided what to do, and the window wasn't open that long, so I figure there's maybe a 50/50 shot at them honoring it. We'll see.....

And NO, my call did not tip them off. She said they've known about it most of the day and have been trying to decide what to do.

I think that only comes up while you're placing your order, if it sniffs out a bad coupon code. Since these went through, I doubt many people ever got that pop up.

My order says "In-production" but the shipping estimate was just moved up to Sept 18 from Sept 15.

BELIEVE ME, I know! I debated whether or not to call, but really decided that I needed the memory upgrade. And honestly, I can live without the laptop right now. HOWEVER, they already knew about it and had already poolled all the orders from today. I'm not going to bother calling them now, but good luck to you guys! I got a friend who really needed one to order this morning, too, and I'd really like him to get it.
