$99 cost
$21 Shipping (to Seattle cheapest method)

Looks like the network card has been stripped (notice the open slot on back?)

128mb ram....workable.

Or....spend $300-400 on one of the hotdeals/FW Dell systems...P4, 256mb ram, compelte system........NEW with warranty.

food for thought....

Solid machine, but no AGP slot, and those are "B" Grade.

Grade B - Desktop is in Good Condition - Looks OK
Has Cosmetic Blemishes, examples of which are (but not limited to):

Missing Bezel covers, back plates, expansion slot covers
Scratches in case
Hairline Crack in Case
Etc.

The NIC is built into the MB. A lot of corporations bought these with a real video card since the onboard one is horrible. Good enough for basic computing.

This item is OOS, and this topic is 'old' in regards to hot deals. However, I would like to make a few statements regarding these systems.

Yes, it is grade b. and it may or may not come with what is mentioned. But do not let that dissuade you from buying a decent system.

I bought a grade b desktop, and a grade a desktop of equal specs. One was a dell, other was an IBM. The IBM was grade B, and the only thing that was wrong with it is that it looked used. As in a few scratches, the PII sticker was peeling. but aside from that it was in good condition. The Dell was in Grade A, and it was in a condtion that looked like it was brand new..

Also, if they do not say it comes with a network card, and the picture may say it comes with a network card, you will most likely not get a network card. The IBM i bought did not say it came with a NIC, however there was still an RJ45 connector on back. Thinking i got a good deal, i plugged it in and nothing happened. The OS didn't detect a network card, as well as the BIOS. Since these systems weren't for me, i just threw in a cheap nic and went along configuring the system. When I first looked at the motherboard, I saw what could have been a mini-pci slot. Perhaps compgeeks strips out the mini pci card or something.

As for value, it's all about what you're going to use the computer for. Yes, you can buy a 'cheaper' system with a better price/performance. But people out there aren't really going to use it. Why should you spend $3000 more on a car to get leather/heated seats/etc when you will never care/use it?

The systems I bought for my clients specifically wanted the computers for low end tasks. The IBM i spoke about is sitting at a automotive repair shop used only for data entry on the network. They spent $80 for the PC, and got a 256 meg upgrade.. Their total cost was like $150 or so. Why should they buy a $400 pc when a $150 will do fine? The Dell i spoke about was used as a PC for a clients parents. They don't have a computer, and they will only be web browsing/emailing. I fail to see why a $400-500 pc will make their email and web experience any better

Secondly, those onboard video cards are decent. The ones i've encountered were rage pros. Not the best, but good for 2d

The only, only, only thing you need to worry about is memory. it's really hard to find compatible memory for these older systems. Ironically, I was about to buy some crucial memory (guaranteed to work) for these computers, when I got an order of that Kbyte pc133 256 meg memory, I popped the memory right in and it worked!
