It's owned by cable companies, which turned me off to it. A lot of their HD channels are available on other carriers and the ones that aren't don't interest me anyway.
While the DISH deal looks good, they do not carry the YES Network, which provides NY Yankee games to those of us in the NY Metro area. I spoke to DISH today and it seems that they have no current plans to get this service. If only Directv had a deal like this one (HD plus TIVO) I would consider it. Cablevision rates are getting more outrageous every day!!!
One thing that I don't like about the Dish deals are that Dish failed to anticipate the demands for HDTV and DVR. You can NOT get HDTV AND DVR; you have to choose. The receiver that does both is backordered and has high failure rate so its not included in the Digital Home Advantage program (what this thread is about). And if you don't want the Digital Home Advantage deal for some reason such as you don't want/need local chanels, you can not get a DVR that isn't outdated. The 522 is ONLY available with Digital Home Advantage.
