I'm going to wait until this drops to around $150 before I jump in.

But for those who want it now, you can get it for $186 shipped here.

Use coupon PC050603 (taken from Pricewatch)

PC Supply Source has a Reseller Rating of 8.96

For a little more you can get the Pioneer A06 OEM version although it doesn't come with any software.

This is a nice burner.

I just got this burner. The value and performance, best bang for your buck. Skipped A06 and DRU500AX for this.

I'm definitely liking mine, and I especially like HD BURN. Holding out on a new DVD player until I start seeing some that support HD BURN discs.

I'm hoping I don't regret getting this over Pioneer A06 in the long run.

Hopefully mine will be able to be flashed to the new firmware. Heard some are not able to flash it.

I haven't bothered flashing mine to the new 2.09 firmware. The drive is working fine and the firmware so far as I know only changes the cache buffer from 4MB to 8MB. I did download it so I would have it but I figure as long as everything is working OK there's no real need.

I'm thinking about jumping in on this deal, but I'm trying to decide how much the software is going to cost me. I already have Nero 5.5, but I don't have any authoring software. I heard the software that comes with this drive isn't even worth installing. Any suggestions? Looking for maximum compatibility with standalone players. This will be used to backup shows off my Replay unit.

The B's Gold that comes with the drive may not be so bad since they now have an updated version at their (B's Gold) website. Initially their software did not support the HD BURN feature, but apparently does now. My problem was that B's Gold seems to cause conflicts with programs that use aspi drivers. Some wierd stuff was going on with my system when I had it installed, like only recognizing one of my ROM drives at a time. Well anyway I haven't reinstalled it to see how well it works now. If you already have Nero you can download upgrades from their website and be able to use HD BURN. Mixed results seems to be the case in regard to Nero and DVD burning. I've only burned a few and they wouldn't play on my cheap Apex, but they would play on a Onkyo DV-SP 800.
You might consider RecordNow as some say it works well for DVD's. I'd try the B's Gold that comes with it before I would go out and buy anything else.

I had all kinds of problems with the B Gold software and stuck with Nero for burning.

I really like the HD Burn feature for Back-up needs, since DVD media is still pretty pricy.

I've been pretty happy with this drive. I am also having to push the button (from the right side seems to work better, rather than straight on like other drives) and wait a little longer for it to eject.

Might I suggest to you Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2.0. This works very well for me, but YMMV. If the mpeg files from your Replay unit are in a format that Movie Factory likes, I think you will be well pleased with this software.

As far as I am concerned the eject button is the only minor flaw of this drive. You don't really have to press it that hard as some have reported, it has a momentary delay after being pressed before opening or closing. So maybe they could have made the button stick out a little further. You get used to it and don't really think about it. Very nice drive.

My button is perfect, so long as you press straight, or in an upward motion.

Pushing in a downward motion (palm-down).....is what I would naturally do since my computer in on the ground... is difficult. so now I push the button with my palm-up...so my fingers are curved up and it presses easily.

Black optorite works great. Dual format works great also...some friends can't handle +R, so I burn -R....neato.

Only other prob I have is I can't burn at 4x....speed tests with nero lock in at 3.0x max, so it falls back to 2.4x. tried moving things around, but no effect....not going to worry about it much. My system rig is in my sig. Any comments appreciated, but use a PM as not to make thread any longer.

got mine today $184 shipped from pcinfinity.net. That button issue scares me a little bit but not enough to dissuage me from the awesome HDburn feature. Hope they get those firmware updates for CD drives soon so I can use all my drives to read them. I wonder if games would start getting down to one cd then when that happens???
