Hey guys (and ladies),
I have a couple of comments about rebate. According to rebate, it is only valid if the package is purchased from "an authorized AT&T wireless representatives".

1) I check the phoneshark address ( 4905 Belfort Rd, Jacksonville FL, 32256) at AT&T website authorized dealer list. ITS NOT THERE...

2) I know when the deal started, it was $40+free shipping. Then it becomes $40+$5 shipping. Then $40+$10 shipping THEN $70.. (all within 24 hrs) Guess what, now its back to $40. Why??

I personally got one the last time and just got my phone today. and I guess I will still be happy even if the MIR does not go through because I need a phone. But I wouldn't purchase one just because its free.. Personally I think something may not be right....Any follow up comments on my thoughts will be appreciated.....

Important Info!

Just called 1-888-458-4239-the phone number on form. Talked to Dianne.

Not much help but got following from her:

As per her, they never check who did you buy it from.

All they check is dates and model number!
--end--
Also AT and T do not activate your phone if bought from 'unauthorized dealer'!

So go for the deal-go thru ebates and get 8%!

My two phones (one with free shipping and another with ~$5 shipping) arrives this afternoon with original Nokia $50 rebate forms.

But there are no receipts. Photoshark will mail the receipt separately?

I have the same problem, received phone but no receipt/invoice. A pretty significant problem, in fact. I have contacted phoneshark but they are closed.

>>knew it! something's really fishy. i got screwed in my att cable...not again
so you're really positive that they're gonna limit cards to 15 days huh?

That's what they told me. B*stards. They also said, and I quote, " YOU AGREED to this, now you have to live with it"

Here's the deal, at $25 a whack, every 45 days = $200 year PLUS phone for a year and for that, you get a whopping 50-70 per 45day period. Only an aboslute idiot OR someone needing thelowest price would use this plan. I now use sprint and for just under $390/yr including all fees, I get 3000minutes a month. Those rats at AT&T can scratch my a**.

I called Nokia promos processing center. According to CSR, purchase from Phoneshark.com is eligible for rebate. But he's unable to answer my question about how long the phone has to remain activated, 30 days or 10 weeks during which the offer is processed. He did claim however that that has never been an issue. I have been a little bit suspicious about the deal because it looks too good. But up till now I haven't been able to find anything negative about this merchant and the deal. BBB rating is satisfactory. Orders have been shipped promptly. And no overcharge on CC has been reported.

One thing I can't figure out is now they don't accept Visa or MC for this deal. Any one can come up with some applausible answer? All credit cards and paypal charge merchants on transactions. And probably Amex charge more than Visa or MC.

Is anyone, ANYONE out there who receive a receipt or an invoice with your phone, please post it here please. Looks like no one have gotten an invoice or a receipt. I did not get a receipt either. Untill someone (or SOMEONES) have confirmed that they got a receipt, I would advise NOT to buy the phone....

can't you guys use the email confirmation? I have an email from phoneshark titled "PhoneShark.com Warehouse Shipment Confirmation" which shows the price the ESN.

The issue is the shipping notification email doesn't have an order date while the order confirmation email which shows the order date doesn't have a correct ESN.

Though i can't comment on phoneshark, I do know that u can get the
AT&T prepaid phones free/almost free after MIR thru some merchants.

Bartell drugs in western WA runs such promotions often. In fact
they have the same phone right now for $50 (so free after the
$50 rebate). Not sure about the free cards in the package though.
Is there anyway to tell without opening the package or does free2go
nokia always come with 2 $25 cards.

check out page 9 on their ad at their website

I got it this time.

$45.05 after shipping with a $50 rebate, a $25 phone card in the box and an additional rebate for another $25 phone card with the only stipulation being that it is active for 30 days

<< Only an aboslute idiot OR someone needing thelowest price would use this plan. I now use sprint and for just under $390/yr including all fees, I get 3000minutes a month. >>

I am not an idiot. Your Sprint PCS $390/year plus a decent Sprint phone usually goes for over $100. I wil be paying $5 for the phone after rebate. I will be getting my first 45 days free with the included card and my next 45 days free with the rebate. So for the first year I will be paying $150 for an additional phone for my wife that only needs to make a few calls a month. $150 for the first year compared to your $490...$50 every 3 months compared to your $98??? That does not sound that idiotic to me.

Not all people like to yak yak on the cell phone all day long (god forbid driving too!!) I'm getting this as a convenience when I need to contact someone in a pinch. For my purpose this is a great deal!

I just hope we can figure out how to cash-in on the rebate. Any word if anyone's got an invoice/shipping receipt, or if we can use the email confirmation?

I paid with my Visa, the morning after the deal was posted here. I'm confused what you are talking about.

Still haven't heard from phoneshark about invoice/receipt, will post when I do.

MMark, then it's really strange. After reading your message, I went to Phoneshark.com again and tried check-out. Still it does NOT accept Visa and MC. Messages posted in other leads and at F*wallet state that they'll accept Visa and MC next Tuesday.

Anyone can think of why?

unihorn -- yes, I just went back to the site & started another checkout process, I see what you mean. "discover or amex" But I am 100% certain I used Visa on Monday.

I feel really schizophrenic about this deal. On the one hand, I ordered monday & received it by friday, and for reasonable shipping ($4.65). Although I have not yet activated the phone, it is clearly the product advertised, and I suppose a cellular phone for 90 days/150min isn't a bad deal just by itself.

on the other hand, all the price changes ($40 -> $70 -> $40), the shipping charge changes ($0 -> $5 -> $10 -> $5), the form of payment changes -- all the preceding within 2-3 days! -- the lack of paperwork to get the rebate, the fact there are two different dealer names (phoneshark/star69), it seems ... well, if not fishy, then bizarre.

It's too bad, I was going to recommend this to a couple friends, but now I'm nervous about it (kinda like selling them your old car -- you think it'll be OK as long as you "work around the idiosyncracies" -- but not worth the risk of a strained friendship if something goes wrong).

So far, nobody seemed to have received an invoice, receipt, or packing slip with their received phones. My package should be here next week, so we'll see soon. I sure hope it's not so. The rebate clearly says a receipt is needed, so PhoneShark better be able to produce a receipt. I don't care how "electronic" the world is, paper receipts are always needed.

Although I raised the issues of prices changes and shipping changes before, I still think this cell deal isn't phony (bad pun ). Phoneshark is selling other products as well, and I don't think they'll risk everything for a quick buck. Hope not anyways. Either way, be sure to keep all your records, and save your order emails and confirmations. Also save the Phoneshark webpage that says "rebate" etc just to be safe. I was able to leave Cyberrebate before its collapse, so my luck hadn't run out yet.

I just got in on this deal yesterday afternoon at Staples using PM.
$39.99 + tax. Had to go through a little troublel with providing proof necessary for pricematch though. Great deal. Thanks!

Here is the reply from Phoneshark on my question about receipt.

xxxxx:

Thanks for understanding. Your email confirmation will suffice
as a receipt with Nokia and AT&T. We've sold 1000's and
they accept them. I will re-send yours to you again.

Thank you,
Brian Kilby
Director, www.PhoneShark.com

BTW, they re-sent me both the order confirmation and the shipping
confirmation emails. Maybe we can use them together for the rebate?
Comments?

The rebate form itself clearly stated that:
Make a photocopy of your original receipt or invoice from your AT&T Wireless representatives that clearly shows the date of purchase between 1/27/02 and 4/13/02. Please note: Incomplete submissions will not be honored and will not be returned.

But your email sounds like PhoneShark knows what they're talking about, or so I hope. It's beyond me the reason Phoneshark wouldn't spend a cent to print an invoice, or even a packing slip. Everything from their ecommerce site to their order tracking shows they have the capability of printing one w/o hassel to them.

Here's my suggestion: It wouldn't hurt to give Nokia Rebate center a call @ 1-888-458-4239, or an email from www.Nokiapromo.com that ok's it. In fact, that's what I'll do on Monday. Please post the results of your inquiry here so we can be sure of this rebate.

My fingers are crossed.

I e-mailed them also and this was their reply:

Your email order confirmation serves as your invoice. Please print this to send in for rebates.

I also think I will call later today to the rebate redemption center to check if this is suitable.

Called and talked to Becky at the Nokia rebate center and she said that they have dealt with Phoneshark before and that the Order confirmation e-mail is fine to use in place of an invoice since it was purchased online.
If anyone else would call and confirm too then we could have a consensus and sleep well at night assured that our $50 is comming.
