You can switch to a normal term plan any time you want.

Awesome deal! Only thing is, getting the rebate could be tricky if you plan to switch to ecallplus without first purchasing additional Free2Go airtime. The rebate form says the phone "must remain on service for at least 30 days following activation and must be on AT&T Wireless service at the time the offer is processed" and "Please allow 10 weeks for shipment of rebate following receipt of offer form", so it sounds like you have to have at least 10 weeks of continuous Free2Go service.

Also, TracFone uses the Nokia 5165 for their service, which suggests that you might be able to switch from Free2Go to TracFone. However, TracFone CS says you CAN program a brand new Free2Go Nokia 5165 to use the TracFone network, but after it has been activated on Free2Go, there's no way to reprogram it to use the TracFone network.

Edit: Looks like you CAN switch this phone between Free2Go, Cingular, and TracFone, but it requires flashing the phone's software.

If this is like the AT&T Free2Go 5165 I bought at Best Buy a couple of months ago, there is a product registration card inside the box you mail back and get another free $25 Free2Go prepaid card. This was in addition to the $25 Free2Go prepaid card already included in the box. BTW, I'm still waiting on my $50 rebate...

I telephoned phoneshark and found that each of us was getting a different coverage area for my zip code. The CSR got an area that included part of New York and my results included the Chicago area, Indianpolis, and Detroit. I was given ATT number, 1-800-361-1265, and call it. So if you live around St. Louis area, the service is available. Except, I check ATT website and found there is no local stores listed to buy phone cards.

Is there any way to get this phone to work with one of those plan that provide service for a few cents a minutes?
