Not anymore in Hubri, er, Huber at least as of 4PM today (11/27). The salesdroidette said they didn't have any in the back, either. Methinks somebody got tipped off by the maneuver. Can't blame ya, and that's how the cookie crumbles. Didn't know Staples could do this "Save The Sale" things ... good to know for future reference.

cranston,

sorry if you wasted the trip...I was told about the stock on 11/24. I only reported my luck when I actually received the items. Then again, Staples inventory is updated only once every 24 hours....I have been told that a store has stock only to drive across town to find out they sold the last items that day.

Anyhow, both my Cendynes turned out to be Aopen drives. Since they are free, no biggie.....but I sure was hoping for Lite Ons!!

got the last one at staples in pleasant hill, bay area... don't know what everyone was complaining about:

I called, reserved it, went straight to the SD, asked her if the rebate was valid, she said yes and I bought it, got the rebate receipt and all, and no having to "sidestep" anyone.

staples is nice, OD and OM and BB are the ones where you must be very very careful

No sweat. It happens in this hobby. Had I really wanted one, I woulda gone out there last Saturday. AT effect.

Mine from last Friday were AOpens, also.

I got one today and it turned out to be a aopen. Not sure if I should take it back but I'm thinking about it. From what I read, the aopens are good at reading disks in general, but very bad at reading scratched disks and subpar at writing. Anyone got a good reason why I shouldn't return and try for a liteon at different staples ?

My 2 AOpen drives blow. But, that's just my 2 drives. Of course, for me, 100% to the bad is not so great, now is it. They are everything you said, plus they sound like they are going to fall apart every time I use them.

I guarantee, I will never own another AOpen product. Did I mention their support is as good as my drives?

Edit...
Yes, I now other people have had better experiences with AOpen than me, but, again, 'I' will not buy their products again.

For New Yorkers, try the midtown Manhattan stores, plenty left. Scored one at Park Av. South & 26St Store yesterday, using the Legit $10 off $40 coupon Staples emailed to me (this can be found at other deal sites, dont ask here). Verbatim Drive, Liteon mechanism.

$39.50 - $10 CPN - $50MIR = -$20.5
Since when do we buy things at negative prices?

Anyone know where to get some firmware for verbatim 321240AL. I don't think I really want to flash it to a liteon drive.
