Hot!!!! ECS K7VZM AMD Motherboard for $42

My motherboard was also just shipped in its original box. One corner is pretty banged up. Just waiting on a few other parts before I get to test it. I'm pretty happy with the cheap case I ordered from them. No cuts yet. )

I decided to keep the video card they sent me in error instead of the sound card so I ordered just the sound card from them last week. It was delivered today. I must say I am disappointed again with their shipping. They wrapped up the retail sound card box with brown paper and slapped a UPS sticker on it. This is a small retail box (1"H x 8"W x 6"D), not your normal big box you see at stores. Luckily UPS didn't smash it during delivery. When I opened it up I found the card in an anit-static bag with no packing or reinforcement in the box. This card must have been banging around all during the delivery. I don't see anything broken on it but I guess I'll install it to make sure it works. I don't believe I'll be ordering from them again. My first two orders with them have both been disappointing.

Okay, despite the deplorable shipping the board seems good to go. Borrowed a 1.2 gb duron and system seems to scream along pretty well. Loaded up XP just fine which detected all drivers. System detected cpu as 1.2 athlon before flash and then correctly as 1.2 duron after. I needed a MATX board anyway and for $50 shipped(ghastily) and functioning fine, not a bad deal.

Anyone successfully disabled the onboard AC97 and stick in your favorate sound card? I couldn't get my SB Live! to work.

I bought from them several times ( 3 screwwless cases, one USB enclosure, three motherboards and 2 sound cards) and never had any problem. They shipped really fast with nice package!! Their prices impressed me too. recommended!!

Can you guys that received these post what revision Mobo you got and maybe the Numbers on the clockgen chip
(clockgen is infront of the ram slots, has W230xxxx on it.)??

I have one of these, I put a vortex2 in it. The onboard won't shut off automatically when you put in new sound card. I had to disable it in the bios on mine. Did you try that???

if you are looking into the m810LMR Pcchips,
i have order twice from wiredzone.com for less than 68 (shipped, if you order 2-3, the shipping cost will be $3 or $4 each) in bulk pack. They have enough foam to protect it.
No problem set up win98 (The most easy setup i have, install win, put in driver CD, it auto detect and set up all needed driver).
Had put in Duron 900, 950, 1 G (this one is not sold yet), no problem.

The m810LMR has 56K AMR modem(most users said its better and faster than these $10 PCTEL software PCI modem), 10/100 LAN, onboard video and AGP port (can put in AGP video card like GeForce MX400 etc later, but can not handle GeForce 3... i guess too much current), 4 channel sound (AC97 2.2, but only one speaker output, i don't know how it is going to make 4 channels. anyway, the spec. said 4 ch)

I think the sis740 (Pcchips M841LR now in europe, i guess it will be here in US soon) will have a better video solution (sis315), and good "chipset performance" as sis 735, can use either DDR or SDRAM.

Yes, I tried setting in BIOS, (1) OnChip Sound and (2) Legacy Sound - turned (1) OFF, and both (1) and (2) OFF. Still got no sound from SB Live. I'd like to install a 4 channel sound card, if only I could get mobo to recognize PCI sound card.

Hmmm.. that should have done it.... I wonder if it's a creative/via thing??? maybe check you bios.. last release shows
"Fix Sound bluster PCI card will be hang under Win98SE" in the release notes...

I have a K7VZM ... (Actually, a pcchips M805LR using the K7VZM Bios, the boards are identical.) I updated it to the latest ECS Bios and I could run a 1GHZ Duron in it...

Pcchips, ecs, amptron all make the same board with a different designation

if your really looking for a good MATX board you've gotta decide what you want, performance or a fatter wallet?

Sis 730 is decent but pretty slow(used the K7SEM w/1g athlon) Graphics are low-end and AGP slot is buggy(which is why biostar probably didn't put one on their board) + only 2 sdram slots. Looked at Biostar but I didn't see a single review of their board, or any biostar boards lately.

Sis735 - Chaintech 7SID for 79 at newegg - just as fast if not faster than ECS K7S5A in microatx, 3 pci, 1 agp, 2 ddr-ram slots, takes xp out of the box, great board but memory has to be seated just right. No onboard video sis746 will have that
