HOT! Epox 8kta3L+ MB for $39 at Fry's B&M.

I know this is KT133A but its still a hell of a mb. Its a smaller size of the 8kta3+ but is overclockable. This is not advertised. I just happened to walk into the store yesterday and they had it on sale. Nearest price on pricewatch is $68.

This is a great deal, given that DDR is so expensive and the KT133A chipset gets better memory benchmarks than the SiS735 (e.g. ECS K7S5A) when using SDRAM.
Like a lot of folks, I stocked up on SDRAM when it was $20 per 256 MB and they were giving 128 MB strips away in Crackerjacks, so I've got something like a gig waiting to build cheap machines.
Too bad there aren't any dirt-cheap Socket A CPUs to go with it. Still, it'll be hard to beat the BA Fry's Friday deal of a K7S5A and a Duron 950 for $69, though I don't trust PCChips in any incarnation and would rather have the Epox board, even if it doesn't have RAID like the 8KTA3+.

BTW, BA Fry's has the Seagate Barricuda IV 80 GB 7200 RPM HD on sale for $89 after $50 MIR until Tuesday.

As I was reading the review, it clearly stated that the mobo uses the KT133A chipset, but if you go to pricewatch.com and search for the same mobo, most of the company stated it uses the KT266 chip, this is weired....any idea?

Just checked epox's website and it says kt133a. I think pricwewatch retailers will list certain things in the product descriptions so that they can be found on searches, so I wouldn't buy into the kt266 stuff. By the way, did they have a lot in the Brokaw store? Otherwise I'm heading over to the one on Hamilton.

they have em stacked up on a shelf near the memory at brokaw. I didnt find any where the keep all the mb's.

Limit 5 CPUs per order (presumably per speed).
Ground shipping from Florida is $6.95 flat rate.
Not a terrible combo for $85. I think it would be competitive with the ECS K7S5A/Duron 950 combo for $69 plus tax from last Friday. I'd pay an extra $10 to avoid all the issues folks have been having with the ECS (including the fact that it is very picky about power supplies and RAM, which will increase the cost of the combo). I've always been happy with Epox products.

the review (in zoiks post) was done with a XP 1700+ processor. So, i would assume that it would work...

/edit: NM, I just called and checked and not only is it OOS but they have it for $59....
