Hey, about the print cartridges for the Epson CX5200, I've read about the smart-chip technology Epson is putting on these newer models Smart Chip Story. http://pcbuyersguide.com/hardware/printers/smart_chips.html

Please tell me if Monsterink.com has these cartridges shipped as hacked. What are their RMA policies and what other places can I purchase ink for my Epson CX5200 at cheap prices? Please reply. Thanks.

Yes MonsterInks sell compatible cartridges about 3.79 each, will work fine. Just one word of caution do nto expect photo quality prints out of this printer with glossy photo paper. It truly sux at this. I have the HP 6110 also and it blows the Epson away.

so what you're saying is that about what RDMustang1 said..."and this seems the best. The print quality looked VERY close to the original scanned item. The resolution is about the best you'll find on ANY inkjet printer (up to 5760 x 1440 dpi for black AND color)" you're saying that the same HP in the same ~$200 price range is better than this Epson model?

I don't see how you could possibly say this printer "sux" at photos... I print photos all the time on glossy paper, and tehy look amazing. There may well be printers that can do an even better job -- I'm sure many of the "photo printers" do -- but it's crazy to say the quality sux. The prints look fantastic.

GO to a store and look for yourself.

Where is the best place to get ink for this CX5200? 123Inkjets? Or would Monsterink just do? I'm gonna stock up on extra ink today. hehe.

Oh, now I realize that this is a 4-ink cartridge system...duh! Haha...comes to $14.40 shipped on Monsterink.com for all 4 replacement cartridges. However, does anyone know how long these "generic?" replacement cartridges from Monsterink.com last for [page-wise/time-wise?] What about Epson-manufacturered cartridges - the same exact thing as generics?

I buy my replacement ink for the CX5200 from Tyler Martin (http://www.tylermartin.com). Great prices, and the performance seems really good.

They are a bit confusing to deal with. You can order online, or through their eBay auctions. I found the eBay auctions to be slightly cheaper. Shipping was incredibly fast. (I've only ordered through their eBay links.)

Micro Center has this Printer for 129.99. For those of you with a Micro Center Store located near you, you might be able to get a price match. I hope this doesn't invalidate the 30 off 150 though...

Epson CX5200 = ~$50 (maybe $70).. the HP 6110 = $300!

Like I said, I only compared $50-$200 printers and EVERY HP for this price had horrible reviews and the print quality wasn't as nice as the epson. Now if you want a $300 printer then go compare apples for apples. I never said this printer was better than ANY printer. The copies made from this printer were almost identical to the scanned image when printed on regular paper. I was not able to see what it looked like on photo paper but if it looked as good on photo as it did on regular (which I've never heard of a printer that didn't look better on photo as it did on regular) then I'll be happy with the photo print quality. If you want to compare this epson to the HP 6110 then try comparing the HP 6110 to a $2000 color lazer photo printer. k?

Looks like they're OOS in some areas (see copy of email I just received below). IMPORTANT: The CSR informed me that accepting the delay will cause a new order to be placed for the printer, with a new order date & number, and would therefore be ineligible for the Gift Check Rebate (as it would now have an order date after 8/9). You could still probably do some persuading to get the rebate, but I'm not counting on it, so I cancelled the order (making me rather angry). YMMV....

Look I am only stating the obvious, the printer does suck on glossy epson paper. Something to do with the DuraBrite Ink. As far as apples to apples well I only paid 145.00 for my HP 6110. So thats pretty close not the same but close. I print allot of photos and I have always been a Epson fan but I cannot say at this time they are better than the HP's out. If you do not believe me go to CNet and look at some of the reviews.

Actually, don't look at reviews. Just go to ANY office store and look for yourself.

I'm confident you'll like the results.

Yeah well I own both so its easy for me to compare. No need to go anywere to look. I will say there is one big plus for the Epson, GENERIC Cartridges available.

Well they are not exactly the same but they are acceptable. I am speaking of the MonsterInks brand. I cannot speak for others.

well..staples screwed up..my order was cancelled, they ended up shipping (and charging me for my 60 pack of bic pens as fillers)...called CSR...they're letting me keep the pens for free..crediting my account for them. only bad thing is they put a hold on my bank card for $131.41 (for the total purchase...i'm just waiting for it to get removed...

Same here. The printer was cancelled but they shipped the rubberbands. I called the CSR and asked how much they are charging me for shipping the rubberbands and she said they haven't put the charge on it yet and will refund me on the order.
