Received my card on Tuesday and installed it in my backup rig. 2d image quality looked very good at 1024x768 on my LCD. Cool fan is pretty quiet. Everything was working good so far until I tried to benchmark it using 3DMark2001 SE Build 330. My rig would lock up after starting benchmarking and would require a re-boot. Same thing happened with 3DMark 2000 and the Nvidia Werewolf demo.
Immediately got in contact with Evga tech support via E-mail and tried to resolve the problem. Eventually had to call there 1-800 number to talk with tech support directly. Nothing worked. Tried card in my primary rig and problem still persist. Locking up when running any 3D stuff. Would work fine with 2D stuff (ie. Excel, Word, IE). After two days of trying everything to resolve the problem Evga recommended the I request a RMA from Newegg.com. Just got approval on my RMA and have just sent my Ti4200 back to Newegg for replacement/repair.
I don't understand why the card would cause 2 systems to lock up under 3D game play. Hopefully it was just a bad card.
I have to commend/praise/recommend EVGA because of the superior tech support given to me during the last coupe of days. Will for final judgement until my replacement card arrives.
FYI:
- My rigs have either an Antec PP412X PS or TruePower 550 watt
- Both rigs used Epox 8KHA+ motherboard with Crucial RAM running under Win2K with ACPI enabled and with Nvidia 29.42 reference drivers
- Once I removed the TI4200 video card and replace it with an GF2 Ultra, 3DMark2001 SE had no problems running.
