This is hot for those AT'ers in the Akron/Cleveland area. The Romig road Aldi's (near Rolling Acres mall in Akron) has the Black Friday deals on P4-2.6Ghz with 120GB HD, 256RAM, DVD, CD-RW, etc....you know the one.....for $899!! There were two left that I saw. They also had about 8 of the 19" CRT's for $179 and 1 left of those 17" LCD's for $399. Unfortunately, I am broke, else there wouldn't be any left

This was on Saturday so AT'ers in the Akron/Clevelan Area get a move on!!!

They are instock here in central jersey as well. Surprising since it's a great deal but most ALDI customers probably don't appreciate a good deal on a rather high ticket item...

Frankly, I can't say for certain. I "think" I have used my debit card there before, but I cannot say for certain. Definitely, cash is your best option...

Yes, you can use debit cards. Just make sure your bank hasn't put a daily limit on debit withdrawals.

Ya, my buddy grabbed one here in Canton at the end of last week. He left two there.......

Too bad a complete box takes all the fun out of it for me.....

Has anybody ever tried to return one of these?

I am asking because on my recommendation a friend of mine would buy one rather than a dell. With dell it is so easy though to return things - so how about ALDI?

Also since ALDI only takes cash and checkcards do they give you back cash or a check for a return?

. At least one of my nearby Aldis (Finger Lakes area, NY) has one or more left and some of the peripherals too. If anyone in the NY area wants any of this stuff, let me know and we could make some sort of arrangement.

I was just in the Aldi store in Canandaigua, NY and saw that they still had at least one computer left. They also had about 5 of the 19" monitor, a lot of the joysticks, and scanners. If you are around this area and are looking for any of these things, Canandaigua still has them. Perhaps it is worth looking in other areas as well.

There was one at the one in chicago too and I'm guessing it was just for display and that they have more in the back.

Thought I would mention that I saw this same comp. at Costco for $899, which I think, was the same price as Aldi. This was Costco in Southlake, TX and I don't know if its national. So if you have a Costco nearby but not an Aldi's, you may still be able to get this. As usual, YMMV.

Nah...that's just an urban myth.

But the ultra-secret polymer cooling compound that enables Ahtlon XP's to overclock to 3.0 Ghz, now that is most assuredly true!

Are you sure it's the same model? The tech support folks at Medion, said Cosco carries a different model. MX graphic card, monitor and some other differences for like $1199.

Saw the Medion PC at Costco here in King of Prussia (PA). Was surprised to see one, almost triped... Didn't look at the specs or anything, but might be worth checking out if someone really wants one. On the other hand, a return at Costco might be simpler, but I never returned anything at Aldi's nor at Costco's.

Was looking for a PDA on Costco's website tonight and just looked at the PCs but didn't see a Medion on the website, only the usual "great stuff" HP, Compaq etc.

According to Medion USA techsupport, the models being sold at Costco are not the same as the Aldi MD 8000. The Costco models come with a 17 inch LCD, a floppy drive, but a Geforce 4 MX video card, a smaller HD, 512K of memory, but it's pc2100 not pc2700, and maybe some other subtle differences. If you could check out the model, the next time you swing by Costco in K of P, I'd be curious as to what model it is, the price, and if the techsupport dudes are telling the truth......Thanks...

Hmm, 512K of memory - probably can't even run DOS.

Mike

Sorry - couldn't resist!

Well, I go almost every weekend to Costco, but since I am not in the market for a new PC I haven't checked the last couple of times I've been. You may be right on the specs as far as the vid card, but I don't remember it including the LCD and I seem to remember the price being $899, but I will check next time I go.

Well in all honesty, the tech guy I spoke with didn't sound very "with it" so you are probably more right about the same model at Costco, then this guy is.....
