This beta testing release is not appropriate for production use, and it is strongly recommended that you back up your existing data before you install and run this software.

The software can be installed on up to five unique computers and each install must be activated through the online Office Activation Wizard (or by telephone).
The Microsoft Office System Beta 2 Kit 2003 is time-limited software that expires when the user's computer system clock reaches November 30, 2003; at which time the product will operate under reduced functionality mode limiting end-user options and operations.

"expires when the user's computer system clock reaches November 30, 2003" -- does this mean I can just set my system clock back two years?

Please be kind, this is my first post...

Office 11 Beta 1 has been treating me well so far. I'm looking for my beta kit to come soon, since I got my shipping confirmation from Microsoft yesterday. MS usually ships beta kits to us testers via Airborne Express overnight/2nd day air. Not sure how they ship the kits ordered off their web site.

Lots of improvements over Office 10/2002/XP...

lol, now _that_ would be great...

Is there a downloadable version, as there was with the Windows Server 2003 Beta? (which, by the way, has been running rock-solid beneath one of my sites for a month now. good stuff).

I had a choice when ordering for 2nd day air @ $23.95 or regular ground for $19.95. I'm cheap, and not in a huge rush...

the system clock thing exists in beta 1 also.

setting your clock back *works* but if u run XP and 2K sp2, u should disable internet timeserver sync in the clock settings in order to KEEP that date in the system.

the second u run the product with your clock set past the deadline, it changes a regkey and setting your clock back from this point doesn't enable full functionality mode anymore, and i can't find the regkey it changes

well since they only charge shipping, is it legal to buy one copy then use it on multiple computers or burn it and freely distribute it?

Been running it for a day now, Outlook2003 is pretty sweet! the only bug I've found so far is with the security certificate feature (pretty cool, in theory, let's you mark an email so that it cannot be altered/forwarded): I registered for my certificate (that's right, .NET Passport again
) but when I try to send an email with the certificate I get a "Remote Procedure Call" error and Outlook closes:Q. Whatever, free is free and I really do like the new interface.

pay for a beta? well... what did you expect, it is M$ software

sorry, but I fail to see what is so hot about this, paying for a beta test is as cold as a witch's tits, that is unless of course you want the bragging rights. just my 2 cents.

They have had this for some time. You can buy yourself a verisign certificate and digitally sign all of your messages (public/private key encryption based).

Thanks for the heads up..
Ordered - 20.00 is steep for shipping and handling.. but with such a long timeout I think it is more than worth it.

Wow...Only 19.95 for Microsoft to trash my system. That's a great deal considering I paid $75 to have XP trash it.

Sorry, M$ software is buggy enough when it's released. The last thing I'm going to do is put M$ beta software on.

Have had it for a month or so. Completely useless upgrade (what a surprise!). Only thing of note is Outlooks reorganized interface.

If you buy this for $20, do they send you a full version for free later? I remember before in the past, if you beta tested, then they would send you free final version later.

People paying the $19.95 aren't "real" beta testers. I don't even think MS gives the real beta testers a final copy anymore..they used to I know.
