From 6th Avenue. Not a refurb. Call 1-877-684-2831 and ask them for the Denon 3803 deal. They are closed now, but try them in the morning. Just ordered mine!

No it is the 3803! At first they were selling the 3802 for the same price and ran out, and then started substituting the 03 for the 02. Then once word got out they came up with the deal on the 03!

Hmmmmmmmm.... not sure if I should go for this or one of the "Outlaw" receivers?

What do you think?

Overall reviews seem very favorable.

have a look!

At this price from a authorized retailer I would have to think the bang for the buck is great!
This may make my decision easier as I had been looking at a 4802R!

Thanks JBAR!

The Outlaw was good for its time but that was almost three years ago and it has been discontinued. The Denon is a true 7.1 system and has superior DACs and other video conveniences. A best buy for sure and a no brainer at this price.

I wonder what the chances of these going any lower are. From what I have read on hometheaterspot and avsforum the new models should be coming out very soon!

This'll be night and day over your Sony DE receiver - The comparable model to that Denon would be a Sony ES type receiver - which usually runs at that same pricepoint.

Wow this is still going on? The longer I wait the more I want to buy it. If I hadn't just bought a plasma I would be all over this.

Did you get an estimated ship date? Last I heard they were backordered like 4 weeks.

The CSR told me it would ship in 1-2 days.

Original HTF thread on the 3803

I called 6ave on Nov 24 and ordered one since this deal was too good to pass up, and it's scheduled to arrive on Thursday. I sold my 3802 on eBay the other day for 600.00 shipped.

I think if you read the reviews on audioreview this unit was blowing out speakers due to problems with the amp. But a good amp none the less that is... if you get a good unit... I also hear Denon has the wrost CS. Outlaw on the other hand has discontinued the low end reciever and is comming out with a brand new one. I owned a really nice Onkyo and it died a few weeks before the warranty was up. Took it in to get it fixed unhooked... did the shipping got it back (NOTHING FIXED)... I've had it with Onkyo. I think I will hold out to see what new reciever Outlaw comes out with as Customer Service is higher on my list... Also, Outlaw might of been out dated but the amps are still top of the line.

Tho, if I had to buy a new reciever now and couldn't wait I would think pretty hard about this one....

the 3803 is the new model from what I understand. night and day difference over the 3802. Even if a 3804 model is coming out, I can't see where they would improve it significantly over teh 3803. At $648, this is a smokin deal. If you are in the market for a receiver, you'd be a fool to pass this up.

I read all the reviews on audioreview and found only one guy who said that a whine from the receiver messed up his speakers.

Oh and I like Outlaw. But they seem to have firmware troubles with their initial releases.

I got one three weeks ago when they were substituting the 3803 for 3802 orders at $649.00 delivered.

This receiver is very nice and I'm very pleased. One thing I like is that it has an on-screen set-up display that doesn't require a seperate monitor out connection that I've been told the 3802 required, it uses the component video connection that I used for my HDTV television.

One thing that I would like to have and I don't believe is out yet on many receivers is DVI connection capabilities.

Just curious but if there is a night and day difference between the 3802 and 3803 then why would you assume there would be very little difference between the 3803 and 3804. I have been reading some of the other forums about the 3803 and it seems some people are having trouble with mainly the OSD for programing. I'd say it's more confusion than really that of a problem.

DealyDo, I agree with you 100%...DVI switching would be huge, even if there were only 2 outputs similar to when component switching had just arrived. to me that would be more useful than DD 7.1 (how many people actually have a 7.1 setup?) anyway, i'm sure that HDMI (the new version of DVI that transmits video and audio) will show up in the next year or so. this is a great price...but i think i'll hold out a bit longer as my old faithful yamaha 992 is still kicking.

The only one I know that has the DVI switching is new flagship Sony STR-DA9000ES A/V Receiver.

You can get this one from Ebay for about $3500. It's too expensive. You can have the DVI switcher for $400 with this AVR 3803.

these features (DVI) always start in the top models and work their way down to the mainstream units. the fact that the sony has it is good news...even if it is out of the price range for most of us. in a year it should be available in mid priced models like the denon...and in two years from now it should be on the models at best buy.

I jumped on this last wk--I've been waiting for the price on these to drop for over a year. I was kicking myself for missing out on one for $850 a month ago. There aren't even any specs available for the 3804 yet so it'll be at least a couple of months before it comes out. It'll probably be priced at $1200 which is what the 3803 was (and still is at my local B&M high end av store). Besides the great price, 6ave.com is an authorized Denon dealership--they're pretty finicky when it comes to fixing components unless you've bought from one of the few sites authorized to sell them.
