I just bought this last night at my local Staples. I needed one of these for the Epson 880 printer that I got. I just went to Amazon.com and did a search for "USB Cable", and it directs you to find a link for Belkin F3U133-06 USB Device Cable (6'). It costs $4.94+shipping. I just printed that page out, then went to my local Staples, then they charged me that price plus $5, for the shipping price. $10 is not too bad for the cable since it retails for $20.

I couldn't wait for it to ship, so I just decided to go to Staples B&M and PM it myself.

i went to a local computer store here in the bay area (Central Computers, Fry's is alittle bit further and i wanted to test out my printer to make sure i didnt need to RMA it) and was planning on getting a cheapo home grown usb cable for like $3.50. that belkins usb cable mentioned caught my eye for like $7. definately worth 2x the money than the cheapo one.

Even better, go to Sam's Club and they got a pack of 2 gold tipped 6 foot USB cables for 6.98. I think somebody mentioned this before, but I actually went to my Sam's Club and picked up a pack of these.

I'll second the suggestion to hit your local Costco. $5.99 isn't too bad for a six foot A-B cable (plus a six foot A-A extension cable).

I picked up a 2 pack at Sam's today. Hard to beat the price, $3.75 each after sales tax. Beats the heck out of $20.00 each at BB or OD and the like. They seem to be good quality.

<< is there a big difference between the USB and Parallel? >>

Well, the difference is that you can not use a USB cable for a parallel connection, or the other way around.

Plus, USB is serial (vs Parallel).

Hey, how about your printout performance?
I have tried to print several photoes, but there is always wide blank stripe in the middle of the photo.
Is there something wrong with my printer or cartbridge? BTW, I have tried several ways listed in the manual to improve the quality. But they don't work for me.
Anyone can show me some tips?
Thanks a lot!

Your printer is defective. If head cleaning doesn't work...get a new one. The carts. can't be reused....

USB is way faster than parallel.

Bob/NYC: What are you talking about "head cleaning"? Is that an option on the printer menu?

head cleaning is ofter under the printer properties, or control panel (not sure on this model). Usually it will make the printer attempt to clean the inkjets, i guess by forcing ink out, or wiping them (?). On my 480 the option is available by right clicking on the Epson printer logo on the task bar (by the clock).

My wholesale price is $3.49 for the 6' and $4.29 for the 10' Belkin USB cable in the retail package. $10 for it at staples B&M is not a good price.

..I,ve got a Hp with Usb + parallel and it seems to print the same speed either way...also just got that one not too long ago, on my Cannon 5100 that I,ve had for over 2 years I soak the heads in water sometimes for 4 or 6 hours to unclog..they break lose..take something you printed, wet your finger and the ink will smear..unless you got waterproof ink that I use for business cards..water disolves the ink..I refill my cartiridges..another trick to keep them from clogging..I put them in small plastic bags and remove as much air as possible with a straw...

Thank you, Bob/NYC[/b]
Do you think the head cleaner causes the problem?
I have tried to print some webpages. If the page doesn't carry too many contents, the quality is pretty good.
But if you want to print some pictures, blank stripes come out and they are somehow wide!!!

Where did you get that? $10 is a great deal since Staples B&M sells these for $20.

Err, no it doesn't make it a great deal just because Staples and other retailers rip you off. They are charging $20 when Amazon charges only $5. Yes, if you need a cable TODAY, you have few choices. No I'm not thread crapping; I'm sure some people do appreciate this heads-up.

Probedude is basically saying the mark-up on these products at retail is insane.

Try printing the photo on the lowest settings in "custom" option, for quality, DPI, and set it for speed.

Then try printing a web page on the highest photo setting, to reproduce the blank line(s). My 880 printed full page photo at the highest and lowest settings.

Don't ever remove the ink tanks, because air contamination of the sealed unit will cause blank lines.

A bought a 6ft Belkin USB cable from DellWare for $8.45 shipped. Not the cheapest, perhaps, but at least I don't have to drive to BB and fork over $19.95 and tax.

Staples is really close to my house, literally a 2 minute drive. It's the best fix since I wanted to use my printer right away and the shipping online for next day air was insane. Amazon.com had $5 cable, but shipping for ground and above was $5 and up. It definitely brought it over $10.
