Is there a way to disable web sites issuing commands like that on your machine.
Does anyone view this exploit as web broswer insecurity?
Yes. If you are using internet explorer, go to tools, internet options, security. There is "Internet", "Restricted Zone" and "Trusted Zone". You can define which sites are in the restricted zone and the trusted zone, and all sites you do not list are in the "Internet" zone. You can define what it is you want to allow websites in each zone to do. The site linked to in the first message uses javascript I think to open your CD drive, so if you disable javascript ("Active Scripting") in the internet zone the site won't be able to do it. Javascript can also install viruses, spyware, and adware on your computer and it is also responsible for popup windows. So disabling it is not a bad idea at all. Some sites will need javascript to work properly, you would need to manually add these sites to the Trusted Zone and enable active scripting in the trusted zone.
