google desktop uses so much resources and so does norton av
but its a good idea to spread out the word of good free software out there (except norton)

This is a great deal for those people out there not smart enough to make sure that their computers are secure and protected. Then again.... those ppl don't come here normally. Good info for those of us that know any of those people and want to just shoot them an email.

Most of "those people" have trouble installing any kind of software so I hope you have time to give them support for this free pack and/or good lucky trying to help them install it.

Don't use Norton, that piece of junk anti virus.
It isn't close to being the best anymore as it misses so many viruses, trojans, etc.

i recommend firefox and google desktop wholeheartedly. at least from my experience, google desktop is very easy on system resources, and much better than standard search (i've heard yahoo is good as well). picasa is also very good if you need an image organizer which does a few useful enhancements.

nothing else stands out as important. obviously get acrobat reader if you don't have acrobat.

edit: under additional software, trillian is listed and is decent. although not a hot deal, this can be useful to some if they don't want to search for each individual program, which might not be the right audience here, but someone will benefit.
