these are crappy choices, and certainly not worth it to sign a deal with sprint...

I concur. If you want one of their top-selling models, they cost the equivalent as if you bought directly from Sprint and the free accessories appear to only be offered on the "free" phones. For instance, the Sanyo 4900 offers a $100 discount, which is the same as Sprint currently offers. On the other hand, if you were to buy a similar phone from a local 3rd party store such as St*ples, they were offering the 4900 for $149 minus the $100 Sprint MIR - $50 St*ples MIR, thereby making the cost of the phone a net profit of $1. (not including tax/activation)

Not worth buying from this compnay, IMO.

I have sprint, and I agree that it is not the greatest, but it is very very cheap, and that makes me happy.

I don't mind Sprint, but I would hold out until CC had a "Get the phone free" sale, because they generally have better phones. Also, I got paid $30 to take my phone, accidentally sent the rebate in late and got an $80 rebate rather than a $50 rebate

I think people complain about Sprint because they end up on lousy plans. I got in on a promotion back in '99 where I got 300 Anytime minutes for $30 and no contract. also had 1st incoming minute free. By today's standards, that sucks, but that was good at the time: 10-cents/minute. I finally got around to changing about a year ago and got in a retention plan that gave me 650 Anytime, 3000 N/W starting at 8pm for $35.99. More than twice the anytime minutes for an additional $6. . I lost the FIMF, but with twice the minutes plus the 3000 N/W, I didn't care. I think they also gave me a free month, too.

This past January, I called and got $100 towards a new phone out of them. I was offered an even better plan, but declined because I didn't want to pay more money (even though ti was only $4) for more minutes when I have never gone over my 650/3000 as it is. A week or so ago, I finally called again so i could get Vision added to my plan, and got 550/3000, free PCS-to-PCS, and 2 month's to try Vision FREE for $35. I lost 100 minutes, but now I get to play with Vision for free. I did have to sign another 1 year contract, but I don't forsee myself going any where any time soon, anyway. I jusr switched ISPs and had to get a new email address. I don't want to full with updating my phone, too, especially since I just got a new phone!

I think that's the point, you have to call and finangle your way into getting a decent deal on phones and calling plans. It's not worth playing their game (for me at least).

Wow, great plan. Question - Did you still get to keep your 8 pm starting time for nights?

You can get 8PM minutes, even with new plans. Basically, you have leverage with Sprint whenever you are not under contract (first 14 days you have your phone and once your contract has expired). If you get a new sprint plan, all you have to do is call and say that you want to cancel, and you will have a good shot of getting 8PM NTWM and possibly more . . . A friend of mine just did this.

Also, I called to cancel my Sprint plan, and I got 750 Anytime, 8PM, and 3000 NW for $39.99, and that is just an average retention plan. Check out FAT - Wallet dot com to read all about the retention plants from Sprint.

Lucky it works for you.
I called a few times, they insisted it is not possible to have 8pm minutes, best they can offer is 350 anytime for $35 contracts for one year. No new phone credit. I told them I have friends got it about a month ago, and I can tell them my friends' number to be verified. Basically they called me a liar.

One of those phone call I made, they offered me $20 for 20 minutes -- you read it right.

Cancelled them, don't bother deal with bad customer service.

the best deal right now in my opinion is at radio shack you can get a N400 for 50 bucks out the door. and for 2 more days you can get an LG 5350 for 50 also. They also have that new nokia Sprint phone for free but I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot poll (I work at radio shack and these things can't keep sold they always come back).

why did you lose first incoming minute free? i got that exact same retention plan and demanded FIMF, so they gave it to me. guess you should have held out a little longer =)

I've heard a lot of people complaining about Sprint around me. My friend discontinued his service with Sprint here in Oregon, but claims its fabulous in Las Vegas, NV where he's from.
