2 GB Kingston PC5300 DDR2 $89.99 - $30 MIR = $59.99 AR.

SKU: 5220847

Repeat -- This is ONE DAY ONLY, Fri, May 18. Get it if you can. Don't cry if you miss it. There will always be another deal, sometime, somewhere.

< update >

Oops -- Frys.com deal is even better. Thanks fishmonger12.

< update #2 >

The form for the larger $45 rebate on frys.com says it's good for purchases @ Fry's Electronics OR frys.com so you could buy it at the B&M and get the larger rebate.

It's not a Fry's rebate. It's manufacturer's rebate. I got my Kingston rebate on $39 1GB PC5300 SODIMM in 4 weeks.

Bump for update in my OP. Looks like the online deal for $44.99 MAY be possible at B&M's, too.

It wasn't a price mistake. It's just that when that stock is sold, its over. Just like in the Fry's B&M. The Kingston memory you are probably referring to is this one here which is a different SKU number. This one is 5141546, and the one that was on sale for 45.00 AR was SKU #5220847. If you put that Sku into the Fry's search, it won't show up, which means its OOS.

it seems to be the exact same ram. how is it different? that's a fry's sku isn't it? they just changed the sku on it. it still has the $45 rebate so it is the exact same kingston serial #.

I would not assume that they have the same UPC barcode. If you click on my above link, the Kingston ram for 119.99 does not have a 45.00 rebate link. SKU's have unique UPC barcode numbers so I would assume that the other SKU available for 119.99 doesn't have the barcode that would qualify for the rebate. They might be the same memory, but it's probably the way that Fry's/Kingston can run and keep track of their promotion.

if you do a search on Kingston from the main search box you will see that this new sku has the $45 rebate attached. Kingston does not have two different valueram ddr2 pc5300 packages.

I understand what you see. I saw the rebate on the search also. If you click on the product link for that ram you mention, there is no rebate link for SKU 5141546. My whole point of what I posted was that the UPC of this ram, SKU 5141546, probably is not the same UPC that is needed to get the 45.00 MIR. Take a look at Newegg below. There are two Kingston 2x1GB PC-5300 DDR2 ram. Two different part numbers, two different model numbers two different prices and two different packages.

Kingston at Newegg

what is interesting is that outpost.com does not supply any detail on the kingston UPC, yet the rebate shows up on the search at the main page. The only discernible difference in the two skus at newegg is packaging. You make some valid points and could well be right that it is oos, but my hunch is it was a price mistake that quickly was corrected. There was really no reason to undercut prevailing kingston prices by $20 to $30. They could have priced the ram at $55 and still sold every one they had.

edit: there is a guy over at another site that talked to a CSR who claims the memory is IN STOCK and can be purchased at the Higher price.

I doubt is was a price mistake, because I bought this same ram two weeks ago for the same 89.99 price except it had only a 20 MIR, (69.99 AR). Fry's B&M has this same Ram selling for 59.99 after 30.00, here
Generally many of Frys.com's deals are better than you get at the B&M stores so I would expect the ram deal to be better than the ad price I just linked to. Another example is Fry's B&M has 2GB of PQI PC-3200 for 109.99 after 30.00 MIR here and at Frys.com the same memory is 99.99 after 30.00 MIR, here
Kingston has been having lots of promotion with Fry's where the rebate is more than half the price of the purchase price so what I see isn't uncommon at all. Two weeks ago I bought 1GB of Kingston PC-5300 DDR2 for my laptop at Fry's for 49.99 shipped with a 30.00 MIR (19.99 AR price). I also bought a Kingston 2GB SD card with reader for 18.99 with a 14.00 MIR (4.99 AR price)

Also when Fry's has a product that goes OOS, many times it disappears from Fry's web page completely. It's just the way they do things.
edit:
This ATHD link to 2GB of OCZ PC-6400 for 60.00 AR just went OOS a few minutes ago at Fry's.com and again this item just disappeared from their website. SKU 5227317.

Does anybody have a saved PDF of the $45 MIR rebate form? I never saved it and it looks like the link above for the $45 form is only going to the $30 MIR rebate form.

PM me if you have it and I'll send you my email address.

TIA.
