don't you think that these will get cheaper if you wait a little. i mean, i never would've thought that the prices of game consoles would ever drop, but as you can see, both ps2 and xbox are $200 (original $300) and the gamecube is $150 (original $200). moreover, there is controversy that the ps2 and xbox will be lowered to like $200-$250, which would even lower the price of the gamecube.
anyways, i remember i bought the original gba at full price and i totally wish i didn't. it's like half price now...
so lesson learned: games and game consoles are cheaper if you can wait and sacrifice novelty.

Very true, point well made. I've never had a problem playing my GB anywhere though - I find it stupid to play it in the dark anyway. Anywhere I usually play it at has sufficient lighting. And with a new design comes new manufacturing and such - having to reconfigure the circuit board and such for the buttons, etc. To be honest the SP looks pretty damn cool - I hated the GBA with the screen in the middle - just felt funny.
They will definitely be cheaper...although it may not be until around Christmas time. Of course, they may only drop to like $79 or $89, it won't be as dramatic as an Xbox or PS2.Originally posted by: AnyMal

Also, remember that GBA was originally released at $119.00, then it went down to $99.00 andeventually to $69.00 All the price drops despite strong sales

Guilty Gear X That is a good game on DC/PS2. Good 2D fighter. I think I'll jump on the CompUSA combo for $99.99 instead.

seems kinda like a scam to inflate the price of the gba units back to their higher price to me.. they should have got it right the first time

Original ship date from N was to be the 24th. N is notorius for actually shipping ON the ship date (imagine that)...
The lighted screen is worth the money. While a GBA with an Afterburner is nice, most people don't want to do the work, plus the extra cost for the unit... And the size of the GBA SP is so cool.

I stopped by my local Best Buy and they didn't have them out, I asked if they had any they said they had them, but can't sell them yet. I told them that other stores already broke the street date and they called me liar.

So those you who already got it, how is it compared to the original GBA?
I never got the original GBA because of the poor lighting. I picked up an SP today, and it's awesome . Form factor is way cooler too. Much less like a toy.
