I've done this already -- it HAS to be a WORKING laptop. I don't know where someone read it can be NON-WORKING.

From the rules page:
If your working condition pre-owned notebook computer has a trade-in value of less than $400 your will receive the full minimum rebate of $400.

i want to trade in my old dell inspiron 4000, but they have not list in the model for return, so it is not qualify??

another thing, they require to return all ITEMS? included the installation OS cd?? dame, my dell is so old, i don't have the cd anymore!

Dang.. I've had my Inspiron 4000 for years. I've stood by it with 2 LCD cable replacements, upgrade of processor and maxing out the ram to 512MB. I love BX motherboards and I only gave it to my brother because work gave me an R51 with a sweet LCD. Now that I'm used to the R51, I realized how bad the Dell keyboard was (in some ways, just clunky) but I love that thing. I don't think I could part with it except to my brother.

the cheapest option is the "B" model at 1150.00 -400 =$750.00, you can get a compaq of the exact same psec from office depot right now for the same $750.00 after rebate price.

of course you have to pay to ship a a old lap top.

unfortunately no, in the terms&conditions it states that you must buy the laptop 30 days before or 30 days after online submition of trade-in rebate intent.

So the deal is, according to Sony...

$400 minimum for the GO Pro promotion.... Requires a 1 to 1 trade.
$some crappy amount not worth it for non GO Pro promotion..... does not require a 1 to 1 trade.

Eh, Sony is the only company I've had rebate problems with. This deal does bring Sony prices down to a competitive level though.
