Bestbuy has T68i for 199.99, if you buy any accessory with the phone, BesyBuy will send you a $100 gift card, there is a $50 rebate from AT&T with new activation. Better yet, CircuitCity sell T68i for 121.99. So pricematch at BestBuy with CircuitCity price:

T68i

$199.99 (BestBuy Price)
-$78.00 (Price difference between CircuitCity and BestBuy)
-$100.00 (purchase any accessory with the phone)
-$50.00 (Rebate from AT&T with new activation)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-$28.01

For current AT&T customer $21.99.

You can ask a friend with AT&T contract to buy the phone for you then unlock it. Thus you can use it with T-Mobil or Cingular. I was told by the salesman that a lot of Cingular users try to buy this phone from them, since Cingular charge $400 for this phone.

For unlocking the phone, just do a google search. And Yes after the phone is unlocked you can use sim card from any carrier, such as T-Mobil and Cingular.

ATT has great service where I live (San Diego, Los Angeles area)...I would consistantly get better service than my Cingular phone. O yea, and with Cingular, you get lovely System Busy's most of the time and/or dropped calls.

If you don't want to have to worry about rebates and having to purchase or wait for the 100 gift card (which you will need to spend there)...then just goto an Asian store. You can get the T68 for free, along with the new Nokia phone for GSM service with ATT. You can also make 50 bucks for getting a Siemens s46 or Motorola v60. That's what I did in the Los Angeles/San Gabriel Valley area...

I talked with BB rep and he said you need to activate it through AT&T to receive $100 gift card. He said BB will check with AT&T to see if you activated before sending out gift card. Is this true? Also my CC price is $199

Keep in mind ATT is using Cingular's towers for their GSM service they are rolling out....

From what I know a GSM phone can be "locked" so that it will only work with a certain service provider but if you can "unlock" it (compliments of a data cable and some software) you can use that phone with any GSM provider. This is great, especially with this phone, if the phone is tri-band and so it can be taken to any country where you can slip in a SIM card and use the phone there.

hey good deal, but can someone confirm that this is for the T68i or the T68m, I was at an asian cellphone store eariler and they said that ATT doesn't have the T68i (only the T68m) maybe they're just dumb, I'd like to be sure =)

I have a friend who works for AT&T in the Los Angeles area. Be wary of their new phones, i.e. the ones with GSM service. Apparently AT&T is lax about putting up new towers and GSM reception is VERY sketchy at the moment.

That's true. I live on a small hill in West Covina and for a period of three days over the labor day weekend I had a signal but couldn't make or recieve any calls when I was able to before. It works fine, no problems but I like my plan and my phone and I can live with it. It worked better than Sprint PCS when they were launched (was kinda of a charter user there too). I get a good signal and good reception most other places, not much less than the TDMA service, better than T-mobile and cingular.

BTW, watch out for those Nokia 8390's. I went thru two of them before I gave up and got the T68i (I find the phone ugly, I'm a simple straight line kinda person and dislike curvey things). I don't remember too much but if your firmware is a certain version using the phone can cause it to crash. As soon as I tried the Voice command part of the phone the whole phone became screwy.

AT&T does not use Cingular towers for most of their GSM buildout. Perhaps you're thinking of T-Mobile? I know there was some sharing between AT&T and Cingular along some highways in the Western US but beyond that AT&T's network is its own.

How does current AT&T customer get the T68i for $21.99. Doesn't all new cell phones require new activation.
