If someone made a game utilizing ChinaTown, I would automatically picture Chinese with chopsticks and Math books.

A more comparable Asian correlary to this game would be about impoverished, suffering Asians grovelling in rural rice patties, where you get to play to accumulate rice and soy beans and Chance cards would include having your daughter raped by an occupying power's GI or getting SARS. The cover would depict a scrawny yellow man with giant buck teeth, squinty eyes, a big round hat and carrying a hoe. I'm sure no one here would find that to be demeaning. Ok, I'll let it go now. I'll admit that it is possible for something to be racist and funny at the same time. I was actually never disputing the fact that it might be a funny game.

I suppose you also had s*it fit over movies like "dont drink your juice in the hood..." ,"friday" "menace to society" and "boyz in the hood", all made mostly by blacks with stories all based on a large section of black society. Several of these movie poked fun at teh gettho lifestyle and were largely base on some reality. Lighten up dude, or scrawl some jibberish on a poster and start a march. Hey bud I've got news for you, you aren't living under slavery, America is not impoverished, and "Masah" is not raping your wife. Your argument is dead nuts wrong. If the game made fun of slaves in the early days of our country then you may have had a point here, but comparing living in a ghetto in America to an impoverished people being ruled by a communist dictatorship is ludicrous to say the least. Thoughts like yours are what keep your people down. Oppurtunities abound in America if only people have the will to go after them. Stereotypes like those made fun of in this game do not come about without some measure of truth. The truth here is that the great majority of crack dealers in a ghetto are black; there are some exceptions to the rule, but if you think about it in this case white people would be the minority. You keep arguing with people who disagree with you but you haven't addressed the double standard at play here. We will never see true equality among the races until all of the races think of eachother as trully equal, stop brow-beating us for something that happned generations ago. Having said all of that, you do have a point that they could have included a "token" white/hispanic character.

Wow, that's kind of like telling me that since I wasn't alive in 1942 that I shouldn't say Hitler was off his rocker. It may not be easy for someone who is brought up in the ghetto to make it out and live a comfortable life, but the oppurtunity is there and has been taken by many. On the other hand revolt is a process that takes time and the dedication of many to accomplish. i personally feel people who dont live in the ghetto area will ever know how it is.

it isnt just the area, but also how the environment affects you. if you lived in a ghetto area since childhood, things are just not the same. Schooling is very different. Yes you can still overcome it, but the chances of it occurring is just less frequent.

Do you feel a school that can barely afford computers and have a run down library with old encyclopedia can compete with schools that have modern computers, internet connection and so forth?

I recall watching some show about two black neighborhoods, separated by a crossing bridge, just passing the bridge over to each area and you have two totally different neighborhoods.

Like I said, people who live in good neighborhoods are just sometimes too spoiled and ignorant to understand how much it takes to live in a ghetto neighborhood. Just lots to have to overcome sometimes.

I just dont understand sometimes why Cities keep pumping extra money to renovate certain schools that are already in high Standards lets say in NYC, Stuyvesant, when there are so many other High Schools that really need the funding as well. Makes no sense. I mean spending money for a school just to have escalators for their students, where another schools can barely afford computers, makes no sense to me.

I'm currently living in the NW, and the folks here are a full spectrum of colors, cultural backgrounds, and religions. I've lived in Houston, Dallas, and Kansas City, in both suburbs and in parts of the city where I had little money (as did everyone else). I have no interest in any conversation or situation that makes people feel excluded or hurt. It's bad manners. But here in the NW, I have a lot of hope that everyone seems to get along with the diverse mix of people. I just want to decide if the person I'm meeting is nice or not. Are we gonna find something in common, or am I gonna pull back and let him go his way? I just want to have fun with people, maybe even take a chance and find a connection? I'm much more into finding the heart than caring about those that can't get there. Sure, I have to go 'way around some of them, but I just leave them in peace. I believe in Spirit, and going with the flow, coming from the inside. There's an old saying that says, "Walk down the middle, neither attracted to the Good nor repelled by the Evil." The pairs of opposites will always be here in this world. We each find our own peace and will never be able to "fix" the world.
