Kinda, only pure digital channels....if they are HD or not doesn't matter....for me I am getting around 12 channels in the local area, most are HD but there are some SD digital channels...

Yeah, better check what is broadcasted in your area first, only PBS is in my area so who cares?

BTW, does anyone know about these Motorola HDTV + DVR boxes? Seems my cable company decided to disable the DVI output (it works for a few seconds when you power it up then it tells you to use component video instead and goes black screen). But my Dell flat panels don't have component video...

Currently I have HDTV from Comcast in the East Bay area.
I love HDTV but I'm afraid to get the recevier+antenna becuase it might not be as good as cable HDTV.

Does getting HDTV with indoor antenna give you snow and lot of interference like its analog counterpart?

Not quite- you will get blocks and stutters, and sometimes you'll get a black screen.

ONLY if you have poor signal quality. Pretty much if you have signal, you have signal. If you don't, you don't. There are very few times where it is blocking. go to antennaweb.org and do a search to find out where your local hd broadcasts are coming from. If you have a good line of sight, there should be no problem at all. In the city it is different with reflections, etc, but, chances are still high that you can get quality signal.

Doesnt come with an HDMI cable. Find one on e-bay or somewhere for cheap if you want to connect it to HDMI or DVI port on your hdtv.

6ft HDMI cable is also clearanced at Radio Shack. Item number 15-1085. Check here for local availability. Was $99.99 now $12.49.

If anyone has the 2005 Entertainment Book, there's a $10 off coupon for Radioshack in there.

I was just nosing around trying other zipcodes and got a hit that is right at a half hour drive from me. Does anyone know if you buy at a store can you take it back to a different store.

I am thinking of making the drive but if I am too close to the airport and decide to take it back can I take it to my closest store? Man I sure would like to watch NFL in HDTV tomorrow.

Well, I've been getting over-the-air HDTV for nearly 2 1/2 years with an Panasonic receiver I got free with my 42" Panny plasma display. It served me pretty well, but I thought I'd give this one a shot to see if it worked any better.

Truth is, I don't care very much for it. For some reason, when the picture changes from a dark scene to a bright one, the picture seriously "jumps" every time. I'd never had that problem with the Panasonic.

Also, as others have said, the remote is terrible, the signal seems very weak and takes multiple button presses to get it to register. I haven't bothered to use my programable remote to see if it works better.

I do think the program guide is kinda cool (my current unit doesn't have it) but I don't usually channel surf HD programs since I can only get 4 networks.

It was a floor model, and the last one in town at 3 Rat Shacks, so it might be defective, but either way, I'm taking it back.

These seem to get pretty favorable reviews on AVSforums, I am picking one up at lunch. FWIW my local Radio Shacks all seem to have them in stock according to the website.

Online indicator said it was in stock at a certain store so I went there only to find out they had one in stock which was reserved. They had gotten it in from another state special order for someone. The guy there said if I wanted one he could get another shipped in. I said sure and he made a call to verify that it could be done then came back and said no problem it will be in in a few days. I paid for it and they will call me when it gets there.

I picked up one today and have some mixed results. The first one was defective, it lost sound output randomly and rebooted by itself, so I returned it. The next one is MUCH better, the only problems that I feel are mentioning are a CRAPPY remote, damm thing does not work reliably past 6 or so feet(solved that problem by using my universal remote, taught it the codes). The other problem is a crappy EPG, damm thing must have 64k of memory, it always has to fetch the data if you scan more then one screen of info. Other then these minor problems, this is a nice STB and is a KEEPER, very sensitive tuner, all my signals are in the 80's and no reception problems. BTW, the HDMI output looks great with a $15 cable that I got off of ebay (HDMI to DVI cable) but component video looks good also.

Try new batteries my remote is working fine. Hopefully you didnt get a defective unit. Mine is doing great and football never looked so good for free.

Also I read an earlier post about SNOWY PICTURES with bad reception??? With Digital there is NO snow and NO ghosting.
Its digital so you either get a perfect picture or you dont get a picture at all.

vfrjim from who did you get the cable from on e-bay?

I bought one at my local Radio Shack about 2 weeks ago. I couldn't get any channels with a simple amplified "bunny-ear" antenna, but I live about 45 miles from anything (channels were stuck at about 40%-45% reception). Should I try another antenna?

Hmm, both units had crappy remotes, but like I said, do not give a crap, I use one remote for all my devices anyways.

I got the cable from a user named: stsi.com on ebay, it was like $15 shipped for a 2m cable, cheaper if you purchase more then one(combined shipping discounts). Cable works great on my DLP TV.
