Spazola said that he "got 2 samsonite outdoor teak wood style chairs that mach my hot tub for $24". Not sure if they're the same ones, but I bought two Samsonite wood chairs with cushions at mine yesterday that were $16 each. The sales clerk said that they had been $30 the day before even after the 40% off, so I guess they are going lower on some stuff at least.

I was psyched to see some of the deals people posted, so as soon as I read this thread, I went to HD.

Just got back. Blah! I really didn't find anything I wanted on sale. I was expecting a ton of stuff on sale, but it seemed like a regular HD sale, just with a bigger discount. I was really interested in the cordless multi-pack stuff people were talking about, but found none.

All I ended up buying was a couple of metal landscaping lights for $5.

<< The good stuff is long gone. >>

Some HDs are restocking some of the clearance items from their regional warehouses so don't give up yet. I was going to purchase a floor model 7.4cu Ft GE freezer last Friday that was regular $200 and clearanced for $120. I went home to measure to be sure it would fit my space, but wehn I returned to HD someone else had already purchased it. I went to the same HD this morning and they had restocked the freezer and it now was 60% off and NIB! $90 with tax out the door

fyi, Lowe's had wallpaper border clearance on sale for $1/roll last weekend. $4 is good, but $1 is better. As always, YMMV

Just came back from the Lexington, KY store. Was hoping to pick up a high pressure washer for $CHEAP but they weren't marked down
Looks like mainly little stuff at this store.

You have to wander around the store to find all the markdowns. Not all are on carts in the main isles. Some of the markdowns I noticed
(sorry, I didn't pay much attention to pricing as I really went there hoping to score a washer):

- a good number of outdoor low-voltage lights were marked 60% off, including a 2-light solar-powered model for around $14
- there was a crowd around some carts of wallpaper near the front of the store so presumably there were some good deals there
- a couple types of wood flooring were marked down and I believe I saw some clearance tags for ceramic tile grout or portland cement
- the low-end manual ceramic tile cutter was on clearance
- they had a few lawn mowers marked down to between $45 (4hp) and $51 (6.5hp). these were used but still not a bad deal
- in front of the lumber section there were prefab round tabletops marked 40% off
- some light fixtures were marked down including a couple porch lights and some 5- or 6-light chandalier-type fixtures.
- carpet runners were marked down to around $1.00 per foot. most of the other mark-down rugs were already gone
- sadly, I didn't see any kitchen faucet type stuff marked down (I need a replacement sprayer!)
- quite a few fireplace-related items on clearance including screens and "fire-poker" tools.
- some outdoor grill replacement racks were on clearance
- didn't see any clearance tags on major appliances either

That's about all I remember. Sorry about the lack of pricing info but if you see something interesting, you might want to head over
and take a look.

Glad I waited, think I'll check out Home Depot tomorrow.

Didn't the original 40% off expire like 1/13 or somewhere around there?

Thanks for all the info people. I was hoping to maybe score a "framing nailer", but it doesn't sound like many expensive tools are marked down.

I picked up a JD Lawnmower on the first day for $299. ($499 < 40%) and they sold them out that day. I went in on Friday and saw a guy buying the same mower for 60% off now, who knows where they dug it up. I asked customer service on a lark to see if they would adjust my price. Much to my surprise, they lowered my mower to $199 and also gave me money back on all the extension cords I bought at 40% as well. I did not have to bring in the merchandise only the receipt. It pays to ask.

Squisher,
HD at Howard Lane in Austin, TX had Paslode and Porter Cables in the 40% off lock up cage, be sure to ask because I also saw that some things which others had said were on sale here weren't marked as on sale at the store, but they did ring up on sale.

If you are looking for bizarre stuff, there are still some good deals to be had!!!

I found a wheel kit for my generator, normally $45, marked $20 less 40%. Not everyone needs this, but I wanted it.

I also found a Generac switch (to allow my generator to legally take over and power some of the circuits in the house). Normally $300, marked $100 less 40%. Tried to get 60% off but they wouldn't go for it.

Obviously we have power company issues in my neighborhood.

Look for the bizarre stuff, you can find some diamonds in the rough.

Now if I could just find some Paslode nailers at 60% off . . .

Best deal I saw was a Great American gas grill these are really nice, 75 year warranty. They were selling for almost $400 last year but were mark at $299 for this sale, then you could get 60% off for about $120. If I didn't have a good Weber, I would have snatched it up (they had three). My friend got one however. I went back last night and they were all gone.

Snagged a 14.4V B&D Firestorm drill with case and two battery packs for $47.50. Good nuff for what I'm going to use it for. Also got some flourescent lightbulbs that last for 5 years and replace a 60W incandescent bulb but only use 15W for $177 each! Good deals.

If you bought anything when it was 40% off and the item is 60% now (most are) then go back and ask them to adjust the price.

I had bought one of the vent free gas log sets for $279 (normally $300) - 40% = 167. I went back today and showed them my receipt and got another $60 back from them so before tax the logs were $112. Can't beat that kind of discount, now to figure out how to install them.

I also had got a ceiling fan for $28 after the 60%.

Stock is getting pretty low on most things in the Dallas area stores I had checked recently.
