Me and my wife went to Memphis BBQ today. Feasted and we ended up paying around $6.00 + $3.00 (gc price) for a $31 meal
Sweet!

Hmmmm.... (doing math).... $31 meal... minus $25 gift certificat = $6. You claim to have paid $6, plus the $3 for the G.C.

That means....

:disgust: you didn't leave a tip?!

I use these all the time. Some do have restrictions as mentioned before, but it's still a good deal.
THEY MAKE A GREAT GIFT!
People think they're getting a $25 gift when you actually spent just a few bucks.
We hand these out at Xmas like candy.
If you have trouble with a certain place not honoring them, restaurant.com will give you your money back.
Look in they're ebay store here and sometimes you can get them for even cheaper. It's easy to search by location.

I bought 3 $25 coupons for $9 to our favorite little Italian restaurant by our house and we went and used it with no problems. This is a great deal!

THe restaurants in my area were more than $3 for a $25 GC. However, I just received an emailed coupon from restaurant.com that gives me 70% off whatever the price is.

If you look at the first post this is what i said

"Go to restaurant.com and on the first page you need to enter a coupon code which is 5 numbers (which you can find online i guess) and then u can search for local restaurants and orger gift certificates (25 dollars worth for 3 dollars) you can print online and use. Th e coupon code is worth 70% of total bill so order a lot of them, just make sure they dont expire. Good luck ". TextText

Hey hey now. Who said I didn't tip. I just don't include it in the meal price. I consider it to be a separate charge because it is strictly for the service, no matter how good/bad the food is

I'll take my chances on this.
Nice find. There is a restaurant on there that I was planning to visit in about a month, so....
$25 worth of food for $3 is a steal.
Kudos on the find!!

only buy these certificates if they are relatively cheap, ie. $3. if it's $10 or so, i would stay away from it because i've had a number of restaurants turn these gift certificates down.

these are not actually gift certificates in the traditional sense in which merchants are obligated to accept them. READ THE FINE PRINTS!!! most of these GC have a minimum requirement of at least a party of 2 or more, some require a party of 4+. it's only good for dine in.

the restaurants accepting these GCs are basically giving you $25 or whatever the face value of the GC you are using for free because they are not compensated monetarily by restaurant.com. the restaurants are getting advertisement from these gift certificates.

some restaurant owners have decided that giving away free food is not the most economical form of advertisement. if your GC is turned down when you try to get some cheap eats, you can email restaurant.com w/ the reference # on the GC and they will refund whatever you paid for it.

if the GC is still valid (within the expiration date) and have never been redeemed, it's probably better to just leave the GC plus whatever the difference in cash plus tips, then dig out. that way, they would have to bitch to restaurant.com about it if they no longer accept these GCs.

they can't call the cops on you because legally, you did pay for your meal. If a restaurant went into an agreement to accept a certain form of payment, they should be obligated to do so until the agreement expires, which should be the expiration date on the GC and not any sooner.

I tried these and half the retaurants accept the gift certificates and half don't honor them.

but then again, I've only been to two restaurants.

not a bad deal though.

I see history repeating itself all over again. Anyone remember cityspree.com? In fact, restaurant.com bought cityspree when they filed Chapter 11. The deal is the same and the concept of the certificate is the same.

Thousands of certificates were printed and almost every one of them was turned down. Don't be surprised when the headline for restaurant.com is bankruptcy.

I'd stay away from this deal. Of course if you land a few certificates that are still honored, lucky you. Otherwise, steer clear of restaurant.com. Just for your info, lawyers are still chasing after cityspree.com's assets and restaurant.com may end up having to fill the bill.
