I have a Windows Vista Business disc from my college, if I use the serial number provided under the laptop and use that disc will it work?

Even though there isn't a lot of bloat installed I don't like it. It's the OCD in me.

Otherwise I have Windows Vista Business I can use.

I'm glad i'm not the only one annoyed by this. I keep hitting what should be ctrl+t for a new tab in firefox, only to have it do nothing and me have to look down to see what the hell to press. I actually had to return the first laptop I got. The screen went scrambled whenever I pressed any buttons on the keyboard. I removed the cover and checked out the connection, but it didn't help. 2nd one is working great though

Ok I have also confirmed this, I went into my local BB in phx, AZ and they price matched the $449.99 deal making my new total price for my laptop $349.99, friggin amazing! Also i have verified that in order to get XP on your system, you only need to use a program called Nlite to addon XP drivers and install XP-64 SP1 then install audio drivers before adding on SP2.

IMO none. Vista 64 is like Vista, only 64 bit. XP 64 is Server 2003 with a facelift. If you want the lighter footprint of XP, then use XP 32-bit.

Of course if you already own XP 64 and not 32-bit, then try it out and let us know.

well, that and the fact of not using 2 gigs of your memory to load your OS, its much lighter than vista. Also if you run 32 bit of either vista or xp, you'll only be seeing about a 2 gigs of memory, due to 32 bit being only able to recognize a limited amount of memory and 512 of the recognized memory will be from your video card.

It was about $390 after taxes.

Initially $525 - $100 coupon = 425+ taxes came out to about $460. Price matched today to the new $463 price which dropped ~$70 off my initial cost.

Total came out to $388 after taxes(7%).

The store had 11 when I left on Monday and 9 when I got there today. They were in the process of taking the laptop off the upper storage shelf and placing them on the floor. While I was there, a guy bought 4, so there were 5 as of about noon today.

Finally got the deal to work at the Champaign, IL store. I brought a friend and he jumped on this deal too. Price was $524.99, they would not price match even with a printed reciept, and had to sign up in store for Comcast coupon to work. Still $424.99+tax is nuts for this notebook. One of the managers said that if we decided to cancel the HSI that Comcast would sue us for the $100, but it sounded like pure BS to me and he didnt seem to be very happy about the deal we were getting. We also added the $50 off Canon printer with the deal, and signed up for reward zone, I decided to pick up some ink for my other printer and got a free $10 pack of photo paper with it. Since we spent $500 each we will both be recieving $10 gift certificates. This deal is crazy, thanks OP!

Went back to my local BB today and had them price match the laptop to the new lower $450 price - $100 HSI discount = $350 before tax. It took me about a hour though because at first they said no, then they talked to manager, came back to me to ask questions, and then at the register they couldn't figure out how to do it. But they finally got it and so after tax, it came to like $376 total for laptop....it's a steal at this price.


BTW, for those who don't know where the coupons are. I posted the links to them in the 3rd page of this thread. Print out the PDF copy of the comcast coupon, I used that one and it was easy
