Freestuff09, how did you get it pricematched to $350? The BB in Marysville (where I bought mine) states that they only pricematch to BB's that are local, and I am not aware of any BB's here that sold the laptop for less than $524 (excluding HSI coupon).

they didnt seem to care if it was from a local bb, only checked to verify whether the 350+tax receipt that someone posted on this site was real .

Most BB's will only price match to local BB's in the area, but I don't think it's a policy because I've heard of them matching BB's in other states. It usually just depends on the manager of the store, some are real hard asses and others are easy to bend to get what you want, as long as you know what to say.

I purchased mine for $525 - $100 HSI coupon at $425 at a BB near Denver, CO then I drove back home to Colorado Springs. When I found out the price dropped more, I just went to my local BB here in the Springs and had them price match the original $525 price to $450 and then applied my $100 HSI discount to make it $350 total for the laptop. Of course, trying to price match it to $450 and applying the $100 discount again took alot of time, bottom line is to just speak to the manager if one of the BB employees tells you no.

Freestuff09, I dont suppose you are willing to post or email a copy of your receipt? So it can be used for pricematching?
Thanks.......

That's a big YMMV, and you're very lucky. None of the Best Buy stores in my area will pricematch clearance items. When they pricematch regular items, they only do it if the other store is local and if the other store has those items in stock. On clearance + not local + out of stock = no workie for us.

If you're talking about a different kind of "low price guarantee", then that's a different story. If you buy an item at a Best Buy store and the price goes down at the SAME store within the return period (30 days for most items but 14 days for things like laptops), they will refund the difference, no problem.

From what I've seen, a lot of Best Buy employees would be willing to give me the best deals if they could, but the store managers in my area seem to be a under a lot of stress whenever I talk to them, and they seem very concerned about their stores losing money. They don't like it when people ask them to bend the rules. (Needless to say, a grumpy manager is less pleasant to talk to than a cheerful register clerk.) On the whole, the stores in my area tend to clamp down on things like people using fake coupons and sneaky things that I myself have (jokingly) suggested (like buying clearance items at one store and returning them to another store so you can buy them back at a lower price--I once tried it for the heck of it and it didn't work).

On the serious note, will this laptop <spec wise> get any better and cheaper from now until Feb of 2009? <I will be on a long trip out and need a laptop). Just don't want to buy this and a few months later <especially BF), another laptop with better specs and even lower price showing up. I don't need a laptop right now.

For the price on this notebook, you can't go wrong. A dedicated vid card to boot is icing on the cake.

btw, why would you wait 20 hrs+ on line on bf when you don't have to.

I went to my local BB afterwork today and they only allowed the sale price minus the HIS coupon ($525 - $100 = $425 plus sale tax). Not bad but I want them to pricematch a receipt copy dated 9-18-08 ($450 - $100 = $350 plus sale tax). The CSR at the service desk said the date was last week and that BB laptop in that state probably on sale and she would not pricematched it.

Does anyone have a $350 receipt (after coupon) from this week? (9-21-08 to today) If you could PM me or post here, that would be grreat. TIA.

Please someone answer :-x

That is a definite NO.

I hate to sound like an ass, but you have 2k+ posts on a tech forum and don't know OEM Home Premium keys don't work on anything other than OEM Home Premium on that specific laptop?

Yes, because BB sale period is from Sunday to Saturday <9-21 to 9-27 for this week).

Please PM me a copy of your $350 receipt on 9-21, then I may able to get our local BB to pricematch (crossing fingers)

Nope. But did your best buy say in state only?

I'm sending PM to you and Svnla for the receipt anyways.

Thanks for the PM, we will see if our local BB will pricematch it. Will keep everyone post.

Thanks for the effort fyu. Unfortunately, the BB's here in my area will only pricematch to local stores.

Can still pick one of these up for ~$500 on Ebay right now because of the 30% off. They're going for right at $700 including shipping, then $200 off that is $500 after cash back.

I picked one of these up on 10/1 from a BB in Sarasota FL for $456.99 - $100 coupon + tax, about $381 OTD. Was brand new ITB. Not sure if I really want to keep it or sell it for a profit and use some of that money to upgrade my desktop, etc.

I saw this on ebay and had to post this in here....

You know that $100 coupon most of printed off for free and used at Best Buy to take $100 off this laptop, there is a guy selling it on ebay for $12.50......lol....and he has had 12 purchases at that price.

I'd post the ebay link, but we're not allowed to...just search for "Best buy coupon" on ebay and you'll see it.

For the 1 year warranty that comes with this laptop, do you need to keep the receipt in order to use the warranty? I'm confused on how they work.

For example, if the laptop dies 8 months from now, would you need to mail the Best Buy receipt in with the laptop in order to have the laptop fixed.....or how does it work for warranties?

I have a customer I sold this laptop to and they are saying you need the receipt in order to get any kind of warranty repair, but I sent them an e-mail telling them they do not, I am pretty sure I'm correct.

Are you serious? What's the big deal with keeping the receipt?

I sold one to a person on eBay and did not include the receipt, because I didn't think it was neccessary. Plus, I didn't want them to see I only paid $375 for it while they paid $700 for it.

I called Gateway and asked them, they said the person just needs to register the laptop online or through the phone, no receipt is neccessary, so let's hope they are correct.

Of course they're correct - it's their warranty.

Get a gift receipt next time.

Unless told otherwise, ALWAYS keep the receipt for warranty purposes with anything you buy.

I bought mine with my AMEX card, which I believe adds another 1 year to the warranty. I suppose they would need the original receipt in that case, to have warranty service above and beyond the standard 1 year?

I know for purchases off ebay to get a warrenty through the 3rd party things like squaretrade, you need a copy of the receipt to send them. Besides, why does it matter that the buyer paid $375? It was his choice to buy it. Why would you be selling it on ebay if you're selling it for the same price you paid?

Using one right now and it's actually really nice. The keyboard has a bit of flex but aside from that I'm enjoying it for $475! My Applecare warranty cost almost half the price of this laptop. What a steal!
