This is an amazing deal, any system with a dedicated 512meg video card is over double this cost. The clearance price is $524.99 , when you go into the store, ask for the HSI deal, sign up with whichever provider is available(They do not actually bill you or sign you up) All best buy does is submit an application to that said company, when they call you to setup an appointment about an hour or so after you leave the store, simply say you found a better deal and decided to not stick with that company. When the Best buy rep is ringing you up they automatically take off the $100 making this laptop only $424.99!!!

apparently until they sell them all, they are discontinuing the item. This is why they are on clearance, also if the price drops within 14 days of purchase best buy will give you a refund for the difference. I did this and verified it myself, bought my laptop on wednesday, and found out on thursday when a friend bought one that the price dropped from $599.99 to 524.99, went to the best buy with my receipt and they gave me a $80 refund(included tax).

Please refer to my original statement in the first paragraph for explanation.

This is from sd.

The 100 coupon is listed in this weeks circular.
You signup for high speed internet in the store, (hsi) and you it will print out a coupon for 100 off any laptop. Once you put in your info, there will be a list of providers in your area, make sure the promo for that provider contains the 100 coupon, some do not.

Once this coupon is printed, they just scan it during checkout.

btw this deal started originally at 599, off from the 649 price. Since then, the price online jumped to 749, and a day later the in store price dropped to 525.

op please revise the title since this is 425 after coupon, not rebate. The 100 off is instant.

I bought 4 of these btw.

This is not your typical cheapo laptop, this has a really decent video card with 512mb fixed.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/A...on-HD-2600.3771.0.html
it should run crysis at low, in its native rez just 1280 x800

It comes with a real core2duo, not a cheapie dual core pentium or turion.
4gb included so no need to order more ram.
No bt or firewire, but those are cheap and easy to add later.

I must inform you that the form they give you states that it is in fact a rebate, however i will revise my topic to state "Instant Rebate".

Ah crap, the video card is only 128-bit, not 256-bit In all honesty, this card would get the exact same performance from only having 256MB instead of 512MB, since the core and interface isn't fast enough to fully utilize a 512MB buffer.

I think you have unreal expectations of video cards in the laptop realm.
asfaik 256bit mobile cards start at the 8800m gts. The cheapest laptop for that started at ~1100 and it was a 17in model.

The 8600mgt and the new 9600m gt which you'll find in dedicated gaming machines costing 1500+ are all128 bit.

ATI had the Radeon X800 and X1800 mobility cards that were 256-bit, as well as the rarer 9800 Mobility. On the nVidia side, their 6800 Go, 6800 Go Ultra , 7800GTX Go, 7900 GS Go, 7900GTX Go, and the 7950GTX Go.

Those are (were) high end mobile cards. High end mobile GPUs like the HD 3870 have a 256-bit interface. The HD 2600 is a midrange GPU and it doesn't have a 256-bit interface nor does it need a 256-bit interface.

This is a seriously hot deal. I called up to see if my BB had one last night when it was $599, hopefully they still have one.... if they do I might pick one up.

I know those ware high-end, I was just stating the point that 256-bit cards exist in laptops since he had said "asfaik 256bit mobile cards start at the 8800m gts".

Please dont forget to mention to them that the sale should be marked down to $524.99 and also take advantage of the HSI rebate, all you have to do is pick a plan at bestbuy with your local provider, doesnt matter what package, they will instantly give you the $100 off, then when the provider calls you just tell them you decided to go with a different provider, that is literally 5 mins of work for $100. $424.99 for that laptop!

Edit Note: Best buy and the provider Do Not Check/Ding your credit! Best buy is simply submitting an electronic form to the provider asking the provider to call you concerning a program you showed interest in. Not a contract

Best Buy in Okemos, MI had one left. However their clearance price was $625, and the guy wasn't gonna budge at all on it. The Lansing, MI store has 2 left, but they're currently $599.

I don't see why it wouldn't be? The Intel Pro wireless cards all work in OSX86, and I'm pretty sure they're implemented Radeon HD 2xxx series driver support.

None left in Vegas stores on Rainbow and Decatur & 215. The store in Summerlin had about 8 or 9 but most of them had some stupid geek squad optimisation and anti-virus or some such bs on them that added 150 bucks to the price tag. I've snagged one that was without it and there were 2 more that the salesman didn't check.

Ok, so they have 2 in Concord,NH and will hold one for me at $533.99, BUT they have customized these 2 already and that adds another $159 to the price for a total of $692.99.....UNBELIEVEABLE...

They say they added antivirus and whatever else.
It's like buying a new car, that the dealer has detailed the car and up'd the price.

Anyone else hear of this going on and is there anything I can do about it?

Yep, check the post above yours. I think they add that extra crap when they know there's gonna be a run on a hot item.
