Personally I'd like to see people stop including the Dell credit discount in the bottom line price listed in the subject of the posts. Just list the deal that everyone can get and then mention the additional discount that can be had for signing up for Dell credit in the body of the post.

Alot of people don't want to affect their overall credit score just to save $35, or simply can't qualify for the acct. in the first place.

everytime you get your credit checked, it puts a little ding on your credit score. apply for credit all the time and you will eventually get rejected.

This isn't necessarily true. You are correct in that when your credit is checked, requests for credit (or inquires) are noted on your credit report for 2 years. Its effect on your credit is based on an aggreagate of factors. Your debt-to-income ratio, available credit, credit history (including length of credit), and any negative credit transactions. ALL of which can lower your overall FICO score.

Simply opening an account doesn't necessarily mean you'll be "dinged" .... but if you have 3 visa's, 1 mastercard, a banana republic, gap, <whatever card>.... opening ANOTHER line of credit with the Dell to save $35 is probably not worth it.

I have had more than 50 CCs with over 200 applications in the past 5 years and have been able to keep 12K of my law school loans at 0% for the past 5 years (8 different cards). I also had a bit of fun my AMEX PMing...anyhow, my credit rating as of Jan05 was 760, and my wfie and I are having no problems getting a great mortgage (it doesn't hurt that her credit rating is over 800.)

So, lotsa apps and cards hurt a little, but not THAT much.

Who cares. People put too much into worrying about their FICO score when there are plenty of banks (credit unions) that do manually underwriting and are not going to care if you applied for a dpa and/or charged $350 on it once.

I signed up for a new dell credit card account, but i wasnt able to recieve the additional $35.00 off....can anyone tell me how to rectify this? I caled them on the phone and they kept insisting i needed a coupon code for the $35.00 off with a new credit account. I have the 40% off coupon but I have nothing on the credit discount? Can someone PM me and help me to save $35 bucks? Thank you.
