I just know we'll hear from those who want to complain only 5400RPM, but heck, great price for a second drive in my system for storing MP3's and other files. Thanks for the find....

Hummm you think Fry's would PM Outpost its the same friggin company.

I saw this in the Fry's ad (Dallas Fort Worth), and they have it for 129. I swear the Fry's here in Dallas is terrible almost always has the same items for sale but its like 10-30 bucks more than So-Cal.

So anyone know if Fry's has a PM policy?

This is, by far, the best HDD deal I've seen. I just bought one & even with shipping it was under a buck a gig! That's freaking incredible!!

ugh, but i hate western digital--this is such a good price though. i vowed never to buy WD again after i waited 6 weeks for my RMA hard drive to arrive. maxtor is the best--they send the new hard drive first and then wait for you to return the old one. every WD i bought died in less than a year, so i don't think i can do this =(

Is there a large performance difference between a 5400 and 7200 rpm drive? I might just use it to store files, music, etc.... shouldn't be too bad right?

Since Fry's took control of Outpost.com, do you happen to know if they now charge tax for CA? Can't seem to find the info on the site and I don't want to enter my credit card info just to see the total.....

they charge tax in CA.

WD800aB series almost rivals 7200rpm series HD .. see storage review review.

In the real world, performance difference between 5400 and 7200 is minimal. It shows up on benchmarks that measure fractions of seconds, but most people could not tell them apart on most tasks. Would you really notice if it took 1.3 seconds longer for Windows to load or a tenth of a second longer for WinAmp to start playing an .mp3? Don't let that sway you, especially since 5400's are less noisy and run cooler. And big 5400's with greater areal density can actually outperform smaller 7200's depending on the data density of the 7200.

As for the tax in California, I don't know, but would bet everything I own that the answer is yes.

Arrgh! And I just spent my computer money for the month on a new motherboard and DDR RAM... Why couldn't I wait just a day.

At least I still have my 120JB from Dell...

BTW -- Are these OEM/Bulk? It lists the specs as bare drive, so I'm guessing this isn't retail. But it still says 3 year warranty... Hmm... Still... Nice price.

considering you have 2 post that is not sayin much.

the 120gig SE was still a much better deal but this is nothing to sneeze @
