Anyone know when we'll see another deal like this? Please, no "keep your eyes peeled" responses... I'd appreciate serious help, like "They offer this about once a month" or "sorry, but just like free cone day at Ben and Jerry's, it only comes but once a year." Thanks.

i haven't seen this type of deal ever.

Same here. I don't think this is going to be repeated for a long time if ever. Dell seems to run one mega deal once a year and this looks like it was it. Last year's mega deal was around at this time if I remember correctly. Third quarter is usually the tough quarter for most tech companies.

I skipped this deal since I saved $791.00 on my 700m order last week (25% + $200 system rebate + $100 rebate on 4yr warranty). Last week you got a free 40GB 4200RPM HDD upgrade, free CDRW/DVD upgrade, and free shipping (no rebate involved). I received my notebook today and I am very pleased. In fact I just finished wiping the HDD and doing a clean XP Pro SP2 install.

700m driver page

I've got a 1GB DDR333 Kingmax module on the way from Newegg, and the 40GB 5400RPM HDD that Dell included was a nice "freebie" upgrade.

I want to thank Apex, RasputinJ, and Luv2save for all of the wonderful coupons!!

If you will pm me when you get that kingmax chip in. I bought two 512 OCZs for my 700M and they won't boot up.

No offense but I hate lawyers like that. Little ass rat wants to sue everything in his way. Dell saved 1000's of people $750 and this rat wants to sue them because he didnt make it in time.

this is not the 3rd quarter, it's the 4th. time is running out to meet the projected earnings. there are 12 more days, including today, left in the fiscal yr for most companies.

I still haven't gotten an order confirmation for my 600m order, anyone else still waiting for theirs? I'm guessing there is either a large backlog, or it's taking longer b/c I signed up for the dell credit plan to save 2%, which i will naturally pay off right away.
(BTW, why are so many people dissing the 600m? It has the best balance of portability, power, and battery life)
This is by far the best dell deal I've ever gotten in on. I hope my wife likes it. it came to about 1100 with the 4 year complete coverage (she has a tendency to break things).

I have been on the phone with Dell since this morning, and I've been transferred from person to person (starting in India) regarding the issue with the "change order request" form. India basically told me they don't want to give me an answer, since they don't know, and nobody seems to know. It seems bogus that you can't modify (especially ADD TO) your order once it's gone through without losing your coupon if it's expired.

I will keep you all posted (in case anyone cares).

P.S. I did NOT use the form, but seeing as some others have, and since I do WANT to modify my order, seeing what the deal is. Has anyone who HAS submitted the form gotten any news?

I submitted the form, but the Dell website still shows my original computer, as ordered. I have not received any e-mails or phone calls from them. We shall see . . .

My 600m is set to ship on or before October 29. Sorry, off topic, but DonVito - how can you be "Go Badgers" & " Go Vikings"? Somehow that just doesn't seem right.

Okay, good news - just got off the phone with Dell (their eSales dept.) and they modified my order but I did not lose the coupon. Not sure, though, if the same applies if the Change Order Request form is used. He did say that they issued an entirely different order, but he still applied my coupon. Added the 8-cell battery and switched my wireless to the Dell 1350.

Ditto, submitted a change order request form about an hour or so after I placed the order (wanted to take out the 60GB drive for the 30GB and remove my snap cover to save $100 total). My order still shows up as the original one. Spent about 45 minutes on the phone last night, got transferred a couple times, talked to India, no go. Tried again today still no luck. On top of all that I still need to see if I can get my student discount, though I doubt it. I'll keep trying but I doubt we'll have any luck with the volume of traffic they're getting since yesterday. Still, money well spent.

I think that you'll likely hear from them the next business day, as per the policy on their website. It says something along the lines of, "All forms submitted between 8am-5pm (CST) will be addressed and answered by our reps the following business day." I think it's really sneaky of them to not disclose information about the coupons, etc. on the change order request form. They're going to have tons of disgruntled customers, if this is the case.

I called the 1-800-901-3355 number, but I got transferred about 5 times and was on hold for about 45 minutes to an hour before I got to the right person.

I am also trying to get the student discount, but will have to wait until after the order is shipped to do so.

901? The number I was told to call was 1-800-915-3355. Do you have to wait for it to ship before getting the student discount?

I think that you may be right about the 915 - I definitely called 901, but maybe that's why I got India and the wrong people? Really not sure... maybe they lead to the same place.

I'm not sure about the student discount. I didn't ask, I forgot... but if you can get it applied somehow, let us know.
