This isn't one of those "rebate valid only in OM stores" type things, is it? The legalese at the bottom usually lists both OM B&M stores AND OfficeMax.com.
Okay... I always hate to admit that I don't have a clue about something, but I've been wondering about this for a while. What is the advantage of owning your own cable modem? All of the providers in my area lend you one for use with the service at no (obvious) additional charge, and yet the local stores sell theres. Obviously there's a reason. Please help a poor confused soul.
Most cable providers are not lending you a modem...you are renting it. Check with your local provider to see how much they are charging you for the cable modem. It used to be about $10 of my monthly fee, so I bought one, and the next month they dropped the rental fee to about $3 and increased the cost of the monthly service.
Some providers make you rent the modem for around $5 per month. If you had your own, you could avoid the rental charge. I have Sprint DSL which allows me to use theri modem at no monthly charge, but if I quit them, I have to return the modem to them.
Careful with this one. Purchased the modem and the rebate reciept that prints out says comcast activation required. I'm taking the modem back, I don't feel like being bothered with fighting for the rebate.

Interesting. The rebate form at maxmyrebates didn't mention anything about comcast activation when I posted the link. Now they added "First Months Comcast Cable Bill" as one of the necessary proofs of purchase. Naughty, naughty.
Yeah they are sneaky. I have the original rebate slip you posted if you guys need it. I took mine back to office max. They can keep it. I bought a linksys from zipzoomfly!
