Ok, this is weird. Chaintech doesn't even list this model(VNF3-250) on their website. They only list the "ZNF3-250"
which is $180 on Newegg. Wtf?

all these amd64 boards will perform pretty much the same. this is due to the on-chip memory controller that amd has incorporated. the only thing that is going to separate these motherboards from each other is features(lan, usb, sata raid etc) that are included on the motherboards

This is the value NF3-250 not the normal NF3-250 zenith. I have a feeling they were built with poorly stepped A03 NF3-250 chips instead of the A04 chips found in the NF3-250 Zenith.

What are you talking about? The Socket 754 Athlon 64's start at $173 for the A64/2800+, and the Athlon XP 2800+ is $113.

I didn't even know Newegg had any nForce3 250 boards in stock! I think I will be waiting around for the nForce3 250GB boards, since the Chaintech Zenith has a lot of things like NIC, SATA, Firewire, etc. on-board, but not on-chip.

I'm going to hold out until there's a good review on a few nForce3 250 boards. I do like what AT had to say about the MSI board, though.

I am going to check with a couple buddies to see if this is the exact one, given that you say it is not on thier site.

Two buddies have a Chaintech nForce 3 64bit board and both systems run like rapped Apes!! In fact the second guy ran out and bought his right after seeing the first buddies system running some games with EVERYTHING turned on, all ti5950 setttings maxed, at 1600x1200. He was running 32 bit xp too...not 64bit.

If this is the same board that my buddies have, I am in. Been wanting to upgrade anyway.

Oh....the one guy didn't like the fact that there was no way to turn off on board sound in bios. He did turn it off in XP with no hitch though to run a Audigy 2.

This is not my buddies boards. ZNF3-150 is what they have. Which by the way I found out another guy I know just oreder one.

Here is the dif...basically. Honestly not sure how much of this I care about for the price.

This one is the value and does have.

2 less SATA channel
1 less udma ide channel
this has 5.1 sound instead of 7.1 24 bit on the znf3-150
this has 100mb nic instead of gbit on znf3-150
no firewire
2 less usb ports
this one does not support 0+1 raid.

This board is not impressive at all, there is nothing better about it than old 150 boards, only the name. Plus it seems it does not have multiplier selection, which is weird. Definitely a pass and waiting for more 250 boards.
