TechNetAmericanow lists these for $239. I'm not sure if Staple's will honor the $40 off since it will bring the cost down to $199 after PM and coupon. Dukota also indicated they accepted an additional coupon for a free 16 MB smartmedia. After the $50 MIR, net cost is 149.00 + Tax + Shipping if applicable. I'm debating between the Fuji 1400 vs Olympus D460 ($279 on TechNetAmerica). I'm ready to pull the trigger today!

Got a super friendly CSR at Staples on the first attempt and purchased the Fuji FinePix 1400 for $239.00 after PM from TechNetAmerica less $40 coupon which brings the cost down to $199. They insisted on charging $20.00 for overnight shipping since that is what TechNetAmerica quoted. They also accepted an additional coupon for a free 16 MB smartmedia. In total for camera, extra 16 MB Sansdisk smartmedia, tax, and shipping, it was $235.00 and after the $50 MIR, net cost will be $185.00 This is a great deal - Thanks for the heads up!

If Fuji cancelled the rebate, what's this?

1. Order the camera at Staples. Apply the $40 coupon

2. Wait a short while, then email Staples and ask for the free Sandisk.

3. Wait a little longer, email for the pricematch. Technetamerica is charging $14.68 shipping according to this link.

4. Send off for the rebate.

5. 253.68 - 50 - 40 = $163.68 (plus tax) for a pretty nice, well-built megapixel camera with 24 mb of storage.

Your milage may vary.

Just ordered this today. Pricematched $239 at technetamerica + free 16MB smartmedia - $40 coupon + CA tax = $216.49 shipped. Of course there is the $50 Fuji rebate. The rep couldn't find shipping charge at technetamerica, so I told him about $15, but he came back and said $239 was fine. Thanks everyone for this great deal!

There *WAS* a coupon for free 16MB card last week, advertised both in the printed sales flyer and on staples.com. Even without it, pricematching is still an excellent deal.

Check out the Fuji website. They lowered the pricing and then cancelled the rebate - I called and the CSR told me that it is over. All sales locations should know about it and have pulled the info. from their sites.

Where on Fuji's web site does it say the rebate was cancelled? I just couldn't find the rebate coupon on the site. Mercata is still advertising the $50 rebate. Last week Staples' web site had it, and it was on the printed flyer as well. I have an original rebate coupon, so I don't think they can just cancel it, regardless of pricing.

Fuji Rebate broken link.

It would seem very strange that they would be able to pull the rebate and not follow through with orders placed before the rebated was pulled, right?

Personally, I'm getting sick of rebates. There are several that don't seem to be coming through, or I get the card asking for more info -- even though I've sent them everything they need. Many manufacturers, or the rebate houses they use are scamming you, the customer. Saying that, I've had good success with Microsoft, Canon and Epson, but Phoenix - forget it!

Time to call in the BBB?

This deal bites, I just got off the phone with FujiFilm headquarters 1-800-800-3854 option 1, who confirmed our worst nightmare. He said the rebate is only valid if you purchased the Fuju Finepix 1400 on or before 11/09/2000. He is already aware of Shop4Digital and Amazon still having the rebate forms but even though the rebate forms say they expire 01/31/2000 it does not matter. Fuji will ___NOT HONOR____ your rebate request if you did not purchase the Fuji Finepix 1400 on or before 11/09/2000. This is because of "massive price roll backs", which is a bunch of total BS if you ask me. Come on let's sue 'em! (j/k)

Sorry I ruined your guys day but I just thought it would be nice if you guys would know.

Who is the President, CEO and Chairman of FujiFilm? I am tempted to send them an e-mail voicing our concerns.

The rebate clearly says purchases until January 31, 2001 not November 9, 2000.

file a complaint with your state's consumer affairs office or attorney general's office.

this is a classic bait and switch fraud.

they bait you with the $50 rebate and then switch it with a "i'm sorry, the rebate's been cancled."

they'll never get away with this. this is obvious fraud, and no matter how big they are and how many lawyers they have, this is clearly illegal.

I emailed Amazon last night and got this reply today.

Thanks for writing to us at Amazon.com.

After looking into your request, on our website where you can download the
rebate form and print it shows the expiration date as for January 31,
2001.

You can now print the correct coupon directly from our web site.
Please return to the detail page of the item using the following link:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/b00004th2w

I also called Fuji this am and one CSR told me to send in the rebate if i have it. The next "Jeff" said the rebate was no good. Anyone else know anything??

Rhino - It can't hurt to mail in the rebate who knows there a small chance you'd actually get your $50. Of course it doesn't help matters that every other Fuji CSR said something different.
