It's a warm deal.
I think you only get about $150 off compared to regular prices.
The based price for Outrageous Deal is $899 (after $250) rebate then you get $200 off = $699.
The based price for regular system is $869 then you get $50 off = $819.
So there is only $120 difference + some a couple differences in parts.

This is a very good machine. I paid 999 for one in Sept 03 for a 2.4gh.

I have been through 12 laptops over the years and this is one of the best if you do not have to travel. Heavy as a log.

Make sure to get the upgraded screen the + if it is available. Extra $100

Does not run hot and eat battery power like Compaqs and the firewire port works with dv cams unlike Compaqs who have nonstandard 1394.

No integrated microphone though. Need to get webcam with integrated mike.

but the outrageous deal still appears valid.

This offering was almost the same as the one they had last week, exc that one had the larger screen, 40gb HD, Dell Photo Album Premium which added when onto this week's offering makes it $1336 plus tax for me of $103.59. With last week's 15% off purchase of $999 or more, this weeks deal was just $10 more overall (with the erroring discount amount).

But this one was really great for those who got in on it. Hopefully you'll get the extra $150 discount, though Dell could correct the billing and ouch! Hope they don't do that.
