HOT HOT Lexmark Laser Printer $70 After MIR

I got the Minolta a month ago and had to return it because of problems with XP latest drivers. It would report "cover open" randomly and at least 90% of the time the print job will "disappear". I am not kidding, the print job won't be in the print queue and wouldn't print either.. Turning the printer off and on again "may" get it to print a couple of pages only.. Bad driver support IMO..

How do you know?

press and hold the bottom all the way to the right for at least 5 seconds, to print out demo page, on that page it will tell you how many total pages you have printed and how much ram it has which is 4 mbs, i love the unit, got mine yesterday, 50 bucks after MIR because i work at staples

=$50 total...... not bad for a laser printer

Mine sez 2MB

But then again, I just printed a 28 page tax form from pdf that was in excess of 8MB, and all it did was send it in 4 pieces, so all is well.

I just checked the Minolta web site and Win XP drivers are not supported for the US 110volt printer.

Installed mine last nite, only a 2mb version
Works great with my free after rebate Visioneer 8100 scanner on my Win2k machine to make copies, I don't think I can ever go back to a slow arse inkjet printer anymore.

Got mine from OM and it has 4 MB [or at least says it does ]

What I have read is that all models actually have 4 MB. However some of the first to 'roll off the line' incorrectly reported 2 MB on the demo page printout even though they had 4 MB.

This is what has caused all the confusion

OK, weird thing: when I try to print a document from MS Publisher, it comes out with hardly any ink on the page. Every other program works great. But MS Publisher and it's all washed out...

I got it yesterday from OM.. Reports 4MB.

I agree with the previous posts.. It seems that if you look around on the web you will see that Lexmark reps are saying that all the E210's have 4MB.. Just some of them don't report it correctly..

Received my printer today from Staples; status sheet reports 2MB ... printer manufactured June 2001 vs. those that were made in October 2001 and report 4MB. Tried demo at OD before buying and the 10/2001 model did report 4MB.

Installed the toner, connected the USB cable, let XP search for the drivers on the Internet and it found it.
I've printed out my resume, rebate forms, and a envelope.
I cant tell any difference between the output from the Lexmark and that of the HP's we use at work.

The one from officemax is the 4mb version, and I had to supply my own USB cable since they didnt supply and cables with the printer except for the power cable.

y1=0.01333x+176.67 (0.01333 is the cost of toner per page for the HL-1440, $40/3000pgs)
y2=0.03x+40 (0.03 is the cost of toner per page for the E-210, $60/2000pgs)
y1 is approximately = to y2 when x= to 8200 pgs or the total spending of $286. >>

I think this is a repost but it's still a great deal. I got mine about three days ago and I really really like it. Everyone talks about expensive toner and only 4MB memory. Man, for 70 bucks you can't go wrong. That toner on eBay for 25 bucks seems like a good thing too. I got some of that for my Xerox copier and it should be here in a couple days. Bottom line this is a great printer. I leave it at 300dpi instead of 600 so maybe I can get 2000 pages out of the "starter" toner It's still crystal clear text at 300dpi.

I don't think the resolution would have any bearing on how much toner is laid down. There is a setting to use less toner in the printer properties, however.

So has anyone ever tried to refill a toner cart using one of those eBay kits? Did it work?

Anyone check their rebate for this thing yet from Staples? I sent in the rebate form for this printer and the Visioneer 8100 scanner on the same day. staplesrebates.com shows that they received the Visioneer rebate and is processing it now but this Lexmark one says they still haven't received the paperwork. Methinks I may be screwed out of $50. Still, it's a pretty nice printer...
