I noticed this at PCuniverse: http://www.pcuniverse.com/product.asp?pid=3863691

If you buy 4 sticks, then the price comes out to be just a little over 10$ a stick.

Is PCUniverse reputable?

Back in @ Cost Central! Sales tax in CA and PA.

I thought I was going to be charged sales tax, but it didn't end up that way. Dunno why.

Looks like the deal is back now the price is under $30 ($20 rebate this time).

Might be free shipping or even lower prices around.

Some quick results...

http://www.antonline.com/p_PX976AT-GP_276528.htm $7 after rebate
pcuniverse.com 7.80 after rebate
Provantage 9.78 AR
colamco.com 10.42 AR, free shipping $100 orders.
PCSuperstore 14.49AR free ship
Techonweb 35.95 AR
Compsource 12.00 AR free ship

HP Dealers: http://hp.via.infonow.net/locator/us_partner/
thenerds.net 26.66, 6.66 AR, but not advertising the rebate.

EDIT: NO GOOD at [kahlon.com $26.00, 6.00 AR, but not advertising the rebate.]
Selling non-HP? memory "compatible" with the HP part number.

unistorage.com 25.92, rebate? Not sure if authorized dealer.

=====EDIT Jan 9th=====

~~ Speed tests of Micron D9HNL modules. ~~

Latest five: 224, 220, 219, 210, 210. Dated Week 48 2007.

Loose one: 203. Dated Week 32 2007.

November five: 235, 233, 231, 223, 216. Dated Week 31 2007.

Most are good for DDR2-800 speeds, but the November batch was better.
Multiply the results (FSB) by 4 to get the "DDR2" speed.

Tested at 1.8 Volts, 5-5-5-15 SPD timings. Abit IP35E. CPU:Ram ratio 1:2.
Completed at least one pass through Memtest86 V32 without error at this speed.

Additional voltage does not help these chips. They run very cool to the touch.
One stick reached 210 at 1.8 volts, 1.9v 211, 2.2v 211 (and no higher).

April 2007 in-depth review at eclipseoc.com (paid $130 2x1G set).

========EDIT-Jan-15==========

$8.65 AR for the faster DDR2-800 HP-Micron, which could be very good OC ram.
Has anyone bought some?, and which chips do they have?

HP AH058AT 1GB PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHZ

28.65 PC Universe
30.52 PCSuperstore
29.79 Provantage
36.00 Compsource
32.28 The Nerds
55.36 Colamco
33.99 Ecost
57.99 Buy.com
34.14 PCRush

I looked up all the ram on the current rebate form when this January deal broke and the ddr2-800 deals were not there at the time.

Just to be safe...
This is a different deal than before?? ( I ordered in mid October before)

So those that got in on the last deal would still be eligible for the rebate on this deal??

I looked at the rebate form and I think it would go thru, but I am not a pro on this stuff

The last rebate was OPT-23. This one is OPT-24. Should be good to go but YMMV, of course.

The problem that I see with kahlon.com is that they list 3 part numbers, with two not being on the rebate. How do you know which one you'll receive (or do they contain all 3 numbers on the carton)?

Damn, I'm tempted to order this through www.thenerds.net.

FREE shipping over $100 and at $26.66 - $20 = 6.66 each.

Also, $5.00 off entire order using Google checkout using coupon affgoo2 .

The only thing I'm not sure about would be the receipt from TheNerds.net if going through Google checkout. Hmmmmm...

Don't order if the rebate is not on the product page. Not worth losing a large rebate while trying to save a buck or two.

Kahlon.com is no good for the rebate. They are using the HP part number to offer an equivalent.

"1GB Module (PC2-5300) for Hewlett-Packard Business Desktop dc7600 SFF/Convertible Minitower
OEM Part # equivalent: 398038-001, PX976AA, PX976AT"

It would be very difficult for HP to block this from TheNerds.net (Computer Nerds International, Inc.), since they are indeed an authorized HP Reseller (I searched using your link above). A few bucks is a few bucks and I think that this is pretty damn solid.

Yeah, The Nerds should be fine. Not sure why they don't show the current rebate offer.

Many of the 33 product reviews there mention previous HP rebate deals.

Is that $5 off Google checkout code, affgoo2, specific to The Nerds?

Tempting. Still have six of these sticks I'm not using. Still thinking about it.

The code affgoo2 was listed from FW. Not sure if you need to click through their link to use it or not, but I doubt it since Google checkout if offsite of thenerds.net. Also, going through Jellyfish.com's link, you can get 5% cashback on this and most likely stack the Google coupon at checkout. You'll have to have $10 in your jellyfish account to receive a check though.

The only question left is what kind of receipt will I receive if I checkout through google? There should be a link or number to access TheNerds order directly though.

It's not that I don't want the ram, I don't need it but it's still tempting!

I've submitted a previous rebate with a Google Checkout invoice. It wasn't an issue.

My HP ram is humming right along @ 375 MHz 1.8v.
Gonna push it a little more, tho. I wish I had a CPU w/a multiplier higher than 7.
Overall, tho, I can't complain about 4GB of ram for less than $20 shipped.

You should be able to hit 400MHz with 2.0Vdimm. Keep 5-5-5-15-2T timing.

Where did you get it for 5$ a stick?

If you order it from TheNerds.net (4 or more sticks to get over $100), you'll get free shipping. You can also use Google checkout and coupon affgoo2 to get $5.00 off. Finally, you can go to TheNerds.net through links like Ebates (2% off) or Jellyfish (5%).

Example: 4 sticks at $26.66 each = $106.64 - 80 MIR - 5.08 from Jellyfish - 5.00 google checkout coupon = 16.14 = $4.14 per stick shipped.

Throwing in my credit card reward of 1.25%, I would be paying $3.82 per stick I couldn't pass up another 4 sticks!

One final point (that was posted by tilt on FW), many of the 33 reviews on TheNerds list the rebate as part of the review. FWIW!

Thanks OP!! In for 4 sticks from TheNerds.net The gogle coupon worked fine. Each 1GB stick averages out to a little bit over $5. Hard to beat that.

Previous order on HP RAM was also from the Nerd. No issue with rebate. Reloaded another four sticks for $5.16 AR or $3.89 with Jellyfish. Not sure if I'll accumulate enough cash to get my $10 min check from Jellyfish. $5.16 is still a good deal.

Applying the affgoo2 coupon code had the strange result
of taking off both the $5 and the NJ Sales Tax, which was
actually greater than the $5 discount. This IS NJ, after all.

Were you already logged in when the tax was removed? By default, tax was added to all orders as Florida sales tax and was then removed once logged in and your actual shipping location known.

If I didn't already have all my systems full of this RAM I might buy more! lol

Too bad I didn't know about it before building two systems for some friends.
