Best Buy is running the the HP ze4610us for $699 after mail in rebates. Office Depot stocks the product, and will match the price after rebate! Also, there you can choose a $100 dollar mail rebate or a 3 night stay with a form that comes in the box. Office depot was more than gracious and there PM policy is amazing.
So you total should be 599 + tax after rebate.

I would love to see a receipt scan of this being pulled off? I can't believe they would have that lax a PM policy? BBs deal is actually incorrect, you actually get an adtl $50 for $649. All but $100 is BB MIRs the other is the HP rebate. I agree most stores would honor an instant rebate but $350 in several MIRs? I called CSR and they say they don't even match non office stores, so this may definately be a B&M / YMMV thing big time?!

For 641 you cant complain, and most lappies are ditching the floppies anyways. Got to Od with the BB ad and the PM policy of OD. We had no problems.

I agree no FW port which I have grown some affinity toward, but a addon card is a simple remedy. I challenge others to find a deal as good for the price? Don't you think you're asking for a little too much? I mean why not 3 lbs, 17-19" screen dvd burner for $399? Imean the damn thing barely had room for USB ports (acutally poor design and way too close to power plug port) wireless, get a friggin pcmcia card already?

Yes BB does show Sold Out, but click the in store pick up, type in your zip code and bam! Write down the phone number of the BB that has it in stock so when you get to OD they can call it! I only show 1 store out of about 10 that still have this in stock.

On a side note I am hearing that HP is having problems with this and all Athlon based laptops with the Heatsync, which is causing a ticking noise that will not go away. I am reading that HP will fix the problem, but who wants to buy a new laptop only to send it in right away to be fixed? Heh I am guessing this is why this laptop is going for so cheap. Any other thoughts?

It says it has two usb ports. i'm willing to bet that they're 2.0.

If you really need a floppy drive, just pick up one of those external ones. They run no more than $40. Or do what I do, pick up a 256MB USB thumb drive for the same price.

The two USB ports are in fact 1.1USB. This is something I do not understand HP is the only Laptop Manufacturer that I know of that still uses 1.1! Least their video cards are 64mb unlike Toshiba's 32mb!

I bought this laptop over the weekend from BB. For the price after rebates it's a pretty good deal. BB's 2 year 0% interest sweetens the deal even more. As far as the floppy is concerned, HP includes (in the box) a $50 rebate on the purchase of either a $50 floppy drive or a $90 128MB USB memory stick purchased from hpshopping.com.

Heh well don't get the HP external floppy attatchment. OM has had and will have in the future Mad Dog external floppy for $10 after MIR. Combine it with other OM deals and possibly get it free after MIR.
