Maybe - maybe not. Description says it is an OEM CD, so it may not work with just any burner.

This is the "suite" version, meaning it can burn CD's and DVD's but it doesn't have the capabilities of the ultra edition. With the ultra edition you can do such things as encode MP4's.

They're probably also selling it in violation of the OEM agreement, assuming it isn't just pirated.

Be sure to check resellerratings.com on the company before giving them your CC number.

I bought an OEM copy at a computer store in the Denver, Colorado area. I paid $6.95. I don't want to mention the place because the disk says, "BUNDLE WITH CD/DVD RECORDER ONLY- NOT FOR RESALE".

The software is the newest version and works for me. I got to wonder if these retailers are taking risks selling this stuff.

i know you were trying to be helpful, but damn, chill out. i still think it is hot regardless of how long it has been priced this way. it doesnt seem fishy anymore, just a cheap price for good software. thanks for the insight, but i wouldnt go as far as to say not hot.

Add $3.85 shipping to OP. I didn't have the patience to find S/H for the "not hot" alternative source.

I think Nero 6 is hot.

Roxio: not hot.

Friend, I don't need to chill out. The fact remains I gave you a link thats 20% cheaper than what was posted. The posted deal wasn't hot. I don't know how to make it any clearer! The $10 price is the normal price, Not Hot.

ok well i guess i just dont care about a difference of 2 dollars. oh, and you have to make it sound like its the difference between life and death with your "but i provided a 20% cheaper link!!!!@!@!@!!" garbage. sure, its hotter than this one, but holy cow, go get some fresh air.

Yes they can...I got a copy of the OEM version from someone on fleabay for $9.95 (with free shipping) yesterday and after I installed it, I hit the "update" feature and it said my version was (going from memory here - I'm not at my home machine) something like 6.0.x.x and the current version was 6.3.0.3 and it took me to the update site so I could grab the latest versions (there were 4 separate updates available). They installed with no problems.

I think these "OEM Suites" only give you Nero Express, and not Nero Burning ROM as the main proggie. It installs normally, but as soon as you enter the key, it modifies shortcuts and everything over to Nero Express. IIRC, the nero.exe file is removed or unusable.

With 5.xx I could only see one difference between Nero Burning Rom and Nero Express. For data cds, Nero Burning Rom would allow you to import any previous sessions, i.e., you could choose an earlier session than the most recent session, which in effect means you could "hide" certain sessions after importing a really old one and then add more data to the cd.

With Nero Express, you always had to import the most recent session, without the option to go further back to older sessions, which means every single item (every single session) on the cd will show in Windows after adding any new sessions to the cd.

Are there any other differences between the two?

The GUI is quite a bit different between the two. Express seems like it's aimed at the "standard user", while Burning ROM has a more advanced interface.
