Settle down, no need for a fanboy pissing contest.

mwave and newegg have both had great reputations for years now.

Clubit bumped their price to 305. Glad I got in on 280 shipped. I needed a handful of them. ZZF has it for 295 shipped now.

I thought I was going to have some buyer's remorse over that $273 price at Mwave, but it sure looks like I actually snagged a good deal!

I'll admit that I'm a little shocked Newegg didn't hit $266, at least for a little while. Weird.

Give it 7 to 10 days, and prices should be normalized at ~265. There was a quick initial demand due to the well-advertised price drops, but the dust will settle soon. I'm sure Intel knows this is going to be a popular model, production should be enough to handle demand, again, once the dust settles.

just do the fry's thing. $299 w/ an ecs MB. sell the MB you'll be well under the $300 mark.

at the moment i'm debating between the q6600 and the e6750.

Yes, the Penryn does seem like a better chip for me also on its
technical merits. The only things that make me think of getting a G0 Q6600
are that I have no idea WHEN the Penryn Quad Core mainstream processor
will be out, and also I am concerned about the possibility that they could be
much more expensive than the current Q6600 prices in terms of performance/dollar.

If I knew the Penryn quads would be out in 60 days at the $266 - $300 range
for 3GHz or so parts I'd probably wait.

I think I will spend my money in the short term on 2 more gigs of ram and a better gpu. I just don't think there would be a huge benefit for me to upgrade my cpu right now. I am still madly in love with my e4300 !

I don't think we will see high cpu prices for some time to come. The timing of the new Intel parts and AMD parts is such that there will be lots of price competition! At the end of the day its only money anyways so who cares!

Why do so many assume that everyone has access to a Frys? Most of us don't (but wish we did).

Intel sells in huge lots. I do not even think they deal in 1k units. That is for the whole salers, etc. to sell and deal with. Intel sells by much larger lots. NewEgg and others buy from tier 3 re-sellers, etc. T1 would be the biggest mfg of the period and the huge system builders. T2 would be like Gateway and smaller but still large companies. T3 would be Toshiba's and such. T4 would be no names that sell to stores like BB, Egg, mom and pop shops, etc.

The tier 1 pays significantly less than the 10k unit cost and it goes up from there.

Even NewEgg makes a pretty penny of the chips. Intel, just like other mfgs, have many ways they lower the starting price much below the stated or quoted market price we hear about.

I picked up the e6750. Did not want to pay the premium for the e6850 or the quad. Figure I will wait till after Christmas or so and see where the quads are at.

Peace and Blessings

(more expensive, but frys.com ship fast via DHL - at least for me)

i always thought these are 1333mhz FSB, will there be such a processor soon?

Yeah, you are in NY? Outpost usually ships out of somewhere in NJ. They usually ship same or next business day as well. I love Outpost.com, as I dont have to pay sales tax with them, and I still get what I order rather quickly.

Screw MWave. I bought overnight shipping from them, and on Monday they send me an email they need to me to call them for more verification. Cancelled, and just went to Frys.

For the Frys deal, you have to buy the combo. If you try to buy the chip individually, it is $500 something. This is what the sales guy at Frys told me when I bought my combo.

BTW, the ECS board may be "garbage" to some, but it has integrated video on it.. I know I'll be throwing my old E6600 into it and putting it to use.

How will we be able to source the G0 stepping when they are available? Word of mouth here at the forum?

I'm about to invest in this thing and i definitely want the cooler running of the two.

buying a processor is NOT investing

but word of mouth works, some companies like mwave actually list stepping info in their product description section.

Right you are freddy. This isn't "investing" in the true meaning of the word. There is absolutely no financial gain or return to be expected from purchasing this processor - Unless it is for business purposes? In that case it might be an investment?

Back on topic....i want a quad-core processor.

I called Clubit today because my order of 6 of these had not shipped, and I made the order 3 days ago.

They called the warehouse, made sure my shipment went out today, and upgraded my ground shipping to 2-day FedEx.

They guy I talked to said they are receiving shipments daily.
