You should apologize to the human race for not having any common sense. We know how to put 2 and 2 together and come up with 4, while you need Apple to create an inferior 4, before selling it to you as the i4 at a hefty markup. Enjoy your freshly produced i4, user.

I'd say the only thing that the iPod has over the iRiver is size. Unfortunately, that's a pretty big (no pun intended) thing for me. Anyway, when did this turn into the video forum?

Eits makes me laugh. That's it.

Anyone who defends Ipod is most likely a teenage girl.

I once heard someone (that claims to be an uber geek) say, "Dells are the best. You could get a computer with the EXACT same specs, and the Dell would win. It uses better parts."

Eits sounds like that...but says, "Ipods are the best. You could get an Mp3 player with the exact same specs and the Ipod would win....It's just better."

Lol.

Be a real geek and look into better products. Or get out of the forums.

Eits... you can't compare a product that isn't commercially released yet, we have no idea what stats are actually true and which are just apples interpretation of what it SHOULD do. And, like I said before, you need to quit comparing ipod w/ this pmp. They were intended for different things as you can tell by irivers batt life. Over twice the batt life on video on the iriver should clue you in that iriver's pmp was made more for video than music. Ipod's the other way, the video was just tacked on as an afterthought (and have you ever watched a video at 15fps? its horrible! Doesn't really count in my opinion.)

I think the ipod vid runs at 30fps. Anyway , i kind of like the ipod. Wait a few months till they release the wide screen version then buy the current ipod vid.

gorcorps, www.apple.com/ipod .... idiot.

hans, quit being a creamy jifbag... seriously. everyone knows dells are pieces of ******. the difference between dell computers and ipods are that ipods are made with some of the best components (except the headphones, which suck dick) and are worth the dollar value at which they're sold. they're quality products. dells, on the other hand, are just a joke.... and are grossly overpriced for what they are.

maybe it's just that i grew up in an affluent area most of my life and i appreciate higher quality products, and am willing to pay a certain amount for that increase in quality over the competitor. i don't know. but, what i do know is that the ipod is a better built, more aesthetically pleasing, more ergonomic, and easier-to-use product than iriver media players (whether they be mp3 or video). you wanna-be nerds just hop on the bandwagon that every other anti-apple/pro-pc just because it's an apple product or because everyone's got one. wake the ****** up, people... honestly. quit kidding yourselves saying that the iriver is a better product than an ipod. it's like an iriver is a lexus and the ipod is a maserati.

but, like i said, if you like it, buy it. different people like different things.... who cares what anyone else says. if you like it, get it. if you don't, don't.

So by buying the apple product everyone else has you're not hopping on the bandwagon?

I don't wanna keep adding all these useless posts cuz nobody's getting anywhere here. Like you said earlier you have your beliefs and I have mine. I'll give you that the ipod controls are nice, the design is attractive, and you can't beat the size. But I've had too many friends w/ dying ipods to consider them a quality product when I've had mine for 2+ years w/ no problems. Maybe they all got lemons and it was a huge stroke of bad luck in my area, but those experiences have made me biased. If I didn't need the built in audio recording and radio on my iriver, I might have gotten an ipod, but those were what sold me for iriver.

my ipod died... i had it for a year and a half and the hard drive died. however, that's something that's just a common occurance to a piece of equipment that gets used daily for hours and hours. that's why i bought the protection plan and recieved a brand new one whenever mine died. also, although i kept great care of my ipod, i'd leave it in the car sometimes (which will hurt the life of the ipod's hard drive)... but, what did i care? i had a protection plan set for whenever it died out.

but, you said it best... people like different things. that's all there is to it

How is the battery life on this thing? If it's close to what the Ipod Mini's (listed at 18hrs) is I'd pick one up. That and the warranty is the most important to me...

I have tried many personal video players and most had drawbacks of some type. However, the one I have now settled happily with is the Dell Axim 50v. I got a 2GB compact flash card which I use solely for video, and a 1GB SD card for everything else. The 3.7" VGA screen is beautiful... and it will play most any video format without re-encoding. When I'm not watching videos I'm using it with my bluetooth GPS for navigation, or as a personal organiser, or to surf the web, or to list to music, or to....

The Apple device has a very limited selection of video codecs. The reason is simple: they don't want you to watch *your* videos, they want you to watch *their* videos. Sorry, but I'm not buying into that BS. If it can't play DivX and XviD then IMO it's junk.

As for the iRiver PMP, I've been looking at this a long time and almost bought it once or twice. I have an iHP-340 and love it. Had I not opted for an Axim I probably would have bought this.

The Dell Axim x50v is awesome especially when it was on sale for $262 with upgraded 2nd year warranty, free additional battery and free upgrade to Windows Mobile 5.0
