I looked at the documentation for Firebird, and have a couple of questions I didn't see the answers for:
1) I have tons of IE favorites I want to import into Firebird. Is this possible?
2) I have to allow popups on a site I visit frequently. I'd like to configure a browser to allow popups there but not elsewhere as a general rule.
1) When I first installed Mozilla one of the first things it asked me was would I like to import my IE Favorites. It works plenty well.
2) Mozilla 1.3+ actually lets you set exceptions for popups. When you enable popup blocker in the browser by default it set it so each time a popup tries to open it blocks it and puts a little icon down in the lower right corner on the status bar. If you click it you can set an exception for the site you're currently browsing, or any site for that matter. So I guess that was a long way of saying "yes, you can do exactly that".
Oh yeah, Mozilla also offers an image-blocking tool, to block all images from certain servers you can specify. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't allow for blocking shockwave files, which are the most annoying ads ever. If you decide to get Moz try out
http://bannerblind.mozdev.org and
http://adblock.mozdev.org
EDIT: Yes, I realize I wasn't talking about Firebird, but if Moz has it I figure Firebird should too. Oh yeah, Moz has an option to only install the browser as well, if that's why you'd preffer Firebird.
